I think he'd take a cut to stay in Van and finish his career there. Maybe 3M? if not I'd let him walk and keep hanonic. I hope OJ is ready, but not sure they want QH, Rathbone and OJ on the same back end. Speaking of soft.... - canucksfan1944
OJ isn't soft and Rathbone hits so not a weak side. Though you don't have to hit like Edler if controlling the puck. Plus the young 3 LSD can have vet tough partners. |

How do you feel about Kent Johnson who was a Trail Smoke Eater? - Nighthawk
He is the most skilled guy in the draft, a bit soft though, as we already have a boatload of those guys.
He would be a real nice fit in Ottawa or Detroit, teams with some young physical, talent playing now and more coming. |

Sedins will definitely be offering Edler a contract to return. He's a solid vet that can help the likes of Hughes, Rathbone, OJ and Chatfield to continent develop. - Nucker101

If the twins get hired , we are picking a Swede - onesmallleap
Edvinsson❤
Doubt very much he falls outside the top 5 though.

When you have your inner circle of boys, you don't do them dirty. They'll offer him a contract. |

Probably why we shouldn't be hiring any more canuck alumni in any sort of management role moving forward. Feelings need to be taken out of the business. |

I knew I'd get grief over it, how dare I question the great EP?
He's young and very skilled there's no doubt about that. However, he's treated like he's a top 10 player in the league around here and he's not close to that. - golfingsince
For the JB apologists, EP is the mother of all reasons to keep JB as GM. If EP falters then what do the apologists have left to keep the illusion alive? You attacked the very foundation of their fantasy. Shame on you. |

I get it, Edler sucks now.
However, to use him as a bottom pairing Dman and paying him accordingly is probably better than most options out there. Give him nights off, play him 14-16 minutes a night and he's likely better than most bottom pairing guys we've had.
The problem is, I doubt that's the plan. If he's offered a contract he's likely overpaid and overplayed. |

I wouldn't complain with any of Clarke, Edvinsson, Power, Benier or McTavish, not necessarily in that order.
Not worried about this draft, I like some kids, mostly defensemen all the way into the 5th round. |

He's a good player, so is Hughes.
I think the fantasy is that they're more than they really are. Comparing EP to Matthews? Insanity.
I sure as hell hope my GM hits on some of his top 7 picks, especially when that's considered his strength. Then again, the title is GENERAL MANAGER not DRAFTING MANAGER so I expect more than a nice prospect every year when you're stuck at the bottom of the league standings. |

The year was a right off , fell out too soon .
We'll get a good pick, Podz is ready the young guys look like they can fill holes.
Demko looks like a future vezina goalie, bad for team Canada.
Petey and Hughes contracts will be reasonable. |

League standings don’t matter. As long as everyone has fun and gets a chance to play all is good in Canucknation. |

Core of:
Pettersson (1C)
Boeser (1W)
Miller (1W or 2C)
Horvat (2C)
Hoglander (2W)
Podkolzin (2W? Maybe 1W?)
Hughes (Top PMD)
Demko (Workhorse stud 1G)
Just need to get some parts to round out the roster, a 3C and some reliable dmen. |

I just don't think anyone can convince me that he's going to take a minimum aav 1 year contract and he's going to outperform one of the kids in contribution.
