He's quite the playoff performer too, or no wait. That's EP. I thjnk you're right hes better, i also don't think EP isnt too far off in terms of skill and could end up in that top10 tier. - neem55
All Matthews has had to face in the playoffs is Patrice Bergeron for the most part. Still, the kid has 19 points in 25 games....12 of them goals.
I can't even believe we're having a conversation comparing the two to be honest. I (frank)ing hate the Leafs but he's head and shoulders above any player we have, or have ever had.

Covid threw people's lives all out of joint , how it affected guys preparation for the season , the mixed up schedule, our guys didn't come out of the gate ready to go . Our goalies really started slow and the defense seemed ill prepared, the hate towards JB and the love for TG seems off , coaching should have done things to get better results. - onesmallleap
All of that only applied to the Canucks?
C'mon, they're pros. It affected everyone in the league equally unless you had a breakout which boils down to what kind of preventative measures you had in place as much as anything else.
Seriously, I'd really like to know how many people think EP is as good or could be as good as Matthews.
A reply with EP as support or Matthews as alternative would be great. I don't need Leaf fans chiming in, pretty sure I know how you feel. - golfingsince

This doesn't sound sincere. I take it you're still salty for being treated like the 2nd rate citizen you are. I tried to get you in the club Don but i'm beginning to regret it. - golfingsince
I’m very salty. My life has no meaning now that I’m in the Astra gang

I will be happy if Elias becomes as good as Barzal.

Naslund, Bure, Mogilny, Hank. All better at their peak.

Well Mathews hasn't reached his yet, and not sure Mogilny or even Naslund are sure bets. With Mogilny I mean as a Canuck. Bure was a special player, Hank had that one great season.
By the time it's said and done i'd bet on Matthews.

Matthews has durability issues. All those guys were pretty hardy in terms of games played. Bure had the injury issues later on. I'd take Naslund over Matthews just as a goal scorer. Matthews has recency bias, and Naslund was scoring through all the holding etc. If Naslund had the freedom to move like they do now, with a stick anywhere near the hands a penalty, he'd have scored even more.

Hard to judge players in this soft era.
Many players in the past would wreak havoc now with these softer rules that allows offence.
You helped keep a up and down year fun to talk about.
I guess we move to what a lot of posters love, SUMMER OFF ICE MOVES.
I guess its more worth talking about then the season. (I liked the Jake, Loui Seattle thing NH proposed)
Since no one is talking about it, and it falls into the crypto talk, (NFT's) I'll post.
And cuz there are a couple closet fans.

He isn’t as good. But he could be. Let’s see what he does next season. He has the potential if he stays healthy and stops pouting
