Figured this re Hayes injured. He looked like he was skating in quicksand the last 2/3’s of the season.

Also, just saw that Gordon and Huffman won’t be back in LHV as per NHL.com

Maybe he can watch some video this off-season and take note of how EVERY SINGLE one of his low-percentage shots are killing the play in the offensive zone.
Seriously dude, stop trying to score your goals from the corner or behind the net... it's sickening to watch.

Been saying this for a while, rangers didn’t want him for a reason. Exactly, he would have been shut down, he sucked. People have their scape goat for him now, oh well.
- ClaudeFather

Just for the sake of playing devils advocate, it’s possible he told the Rangers he didn’t want to stay. Before getting traded it seemed Rangers were going through a full rebuild.

Flyers decisively won that trade. Overwhelmingly one sided.

Youre just pissed off that you missed the opportunity to female dog about him being a phenomenal regular season goalie and a complete mental midget choker in the playoffs to go along with his enormous caphits

Not just "seems", Rangers actually sent out a letter to sth saying they were embarking on a rebuild.

Let Hayes rest for the summer and have surgery the day before the season starts.

Sign a free agent with the LTIR money.

Start Hayes skating about 9 weeks before the end of the season. Have him rested and ready for game 1 of the playoffs.

Sarcasm? Bobrovsky won two Vezina trophies with Columbus. We got Stolarz, Leier and I dont know who we selected with the other pick.

The Phantoms coaches did a great job. I really liked Gordon from his stint with the Flyers. I wish them the best in their future endeavors! Wondering where they end up...

On a thoughtful note, I hope that their leaving is not some sort of attempt at a scapegoat for this past Flyers season.

I heard the statement again the other day...”The NHL is not a development league.” Well, that is true on the surface, it isn’t true when you look deep into it. They say that with the salary cap, the league got younger. Since players on their ELC and younger guys, in general, are on lower-priced salaries, teams need those guys to be cap compliant.

It isn’t a league you can enter without being at a minimum threshold ability at your position; however, it is entirely untrue to say that young players aren’t developing in the NHL. Coaching has to support and acknowledge their young players inexperience and growth while attempting to place these players in role where they can succeed in helping the team win.

It’s fair to ask how well the Flyers have done in this area given where the team finds itself now. Personally, I don’t believe this issue fell to the Phantoms, but rather the Flyers GMs and coaches.

Why would a rebuilding team get rid of a 26 yr old center if he was any good. Rangers had no center depth and even with that they wanted nothing to do with resigning Hayes. Hayes indicated he didnt want to come to the Flyers till they offered him 7x7. What you see with Hayes is exactly the player that played for the Rangers. Maddening but thats what he is.

In watching the Avs play yesterday, I was struck by their ferocious abandon on offense.

Here is their 3rd goal. Watch the breakout. This is not an odd man rush, or a pp. The Blues are not changing. The Avs are not down on the scoreboard, nor are they up by a lot. Margin at the time is 1 goal, and in playoffs, you are normally cautious.

Yet here is Devon Toews, a D-man, going breakneck up the middle of the ice, going to the net, to the boards, and then staying down low as he sees they are set to maintain possession. He is essentially the center on that play.

I posted back in early March that I thought there was something wrong with Hayes, he looked slow and was passing up good scoring chances way too much. There is nothing minor about core surgery. We have seen what it did to Nolan Patricks draft year season and those who are older like me saw how it pretty much stifled Mikael Renberg's career. If the Flyers knew what the problem was then, they should have shut Hayes down and got him fixed up sooner. Letting him play as a shell of himself did nothing for him or the team.

They can, though... A minor tear/small "sports hernia" could be part of the "core muscle surgery" talked about here. Something nagging rather than debilitating.

He sucked, let’s not pretend the guy was playing with a broken arm. It clearly was not that serious, he played through it which means he, the team, and his representation all thought it was fine to play through. Even being called minor by the guy himself.

I was very unhappy with the "system" I saw at LHV on Saturday..this seasons wins were scoring and goaltending not "team play" in its true essence

On another note, how does Mike Yeo keep his job this off season? Everyone on on their defense regressed badly and their PK was an absolute train wreck. I'm not one to usually call for people to be fired, but this dude has to go!!!!!
