I think team MVP has to be Lucic this year.

I think going all in on Eichel is a mistake. You deplete your team to get a guy like that and he can’t win with a lacklustre supporting cast.
I also think there is a good hockey deal to be made to send JG home to Philly. They are looking for a retool of sorts as well after a disappointing season. Konecny coming back would help with the offence lost from JG. make this deal bigger and take Ghosts contract to acquire Frost or Foerster as part of the package. Something like
JG, Valimaki, 3rd for Konency, Frost, and Gostisbere
Monahan: don’t trade unless an A prospect and a middle 6 forward is coming back, otherwise you keep him on the second line and bring in a LW in free agency to be his playmaker. Think Hall, Hoffman, or Nugent hopkins.
Not sure how much better that makes the team, but it shakes up the room while balancing out the top 6. I don’t think the Flames have the guts to go full rebuild

- JallHockey

Disagree. The Flames haven’t had a top end center since Joe. You desperately need one to win in the playoffs. If you were able to get Eichel and resign Johnny, you’d have a pretty good pair for a #1 line. Not sure who’d you have to give up but after this season there aren’t many untouchables on this team.

He’s almost a point per game player. You don’t throw those away. Get him a true #1 centerman and see how he does.

I suspect Eichel has zero desire to come to Calgary. Although I don't think he has a choice right now (correct me if I'm wrong) but what does that look like? Would be freaking awesome but I just don't know if we have the assets Buffalo will demand. And unless its a blow up not a retool, how do we add the right pieces to support?

Ya i agree on JG but a team starved of offense gives up one of the few offensive pieces? Monahan gets more complicated with the surgery thing. As much as we female dog, he's been consistent in terms of point totals and this year was (frank)ed for so may reasons. Maybe an Eastern conference team?
I think if we get an Eichel or similar, the other pieces will fall. Otherwise, I have no idea what will happen. I like a Rinaldo and Ritchie played that balanced role. I think he's gone of we make minor changes. If we do a blockbuster, he'll stay for that "toughness+".

Who does Seattle take off our roster?

- geta02it

I’ve always liked Backlund but he’s nearing the end, if it was me I’d expose him and hope Seattle bites. Don’t get me wrong he’s still a decent player but I think we have players that could replace him.

1. a midget
2. a defensive dman who miraculously didn't get injured for the first time
3. a slow goon

Give him 8 years right now. Then see if they can get Eichel to play with him. Offer up Thachuck if they have to.

I would do that. Having Eichel and Lindolm as top 2 centers would be great. With the cap savings they could resign Ryan for a couple more years and have Backlund/Ryan as the bottom 6 centers. Not too bad.

I like Ryan coming back but at 2 mil per at the most. I like the small sample size we saw in Ruzicka and feel he could easily play on this team.
If Sutter is true to his word, we need to get bigger and faster in the bottom 6, Ruzicka fills that Bill.

As fun as it is ragging on you guys, I think Sutter will have this team playing better hockey after a full training camp and having some say in roster construction. His teams are usually sound defensively and he's the master of teaching dmen/centers how to get away with subtle interference.

We might get some stability in coaching for a change. Best thing about Sutter is he holds the young guys accountable and demands a solid effort. Worse thing about Sutter is he’s loyal to a fault to the veterans.
Maybe we’ll see some improvements.

He does kind of suck the offensive creativity out of a group so having a decent power play will be key. But the team should be a hell of. A lot better defensively and more difficult to okay against, he was probably pissed at the bad defense and lack of team toughness this year

With injuries and everything else, having a few centers is a good idea. Hopefully Ruzicka makes the team next year but maybe he starts at wing. I think Philp or Gawdin might be in the mix too. Also have Zary but he might be need more time.
