You make some good points with the cap and the supporting cast. A trade for Eichel that guts the team doesn't bode well for the future as you stated. And, I don't see a true #1 C candidate in this years crop of draftees. That's the issue and that's why a trade is what will likely need to happen.

Outside Eichel, is there another centreman that would even be a possibility of coming here, assuming a trade could be made?

There is no one even close to Eichel's upside and game-breaking abilities. I think there is a few options that can be grouped into 1 of 2 categories. Currently a top 6 forward who plays C or potential top line C...

Kopitar (unlikely due to limited NMC)
David Krejci (UFA)
Philip Danault (UFA)
Ryan Johansen
Mika Zibanejad
Travis Konecny
Thomas Hertl
Logan Couture

Jesperi Kotkaniemi (RFA)
Morgan Frost
Nolan Patrick (RFA)
Robert Thomas (RFA)
Peyton Krebs

You could swing for the fence, and hope a FA signing or trade for one of these guys is the answer to what this team needs.
In the draft, Kent Johnson may slide to our position and could be the best chance at a #1 C. Autu Raty would not be very good value for the Flames draft position, but is a Boom/Bust candidate with his widely scrutinized fall from a top 3 lock a year and a half ago.

I’m so happy that Treliving had the foresight to sign Nesterov and let that Forbert go. He plays way too rough for our pillow fighters and would have brought too much sandpaper to our game.
Keep up the good work.

Ex Flames Bennet and Lomberg leading the way for the Panthers win

Bennett cost them game one with dumb penalties and was suspended game two. They are done in the first round.

Good try at trolling though.

What's next? Mike Smith?

That’s not the way I interpreted his comment. Think he was just pointing out that ex Flames were having success in the playoffs while we wait for the draft.

I'm a hardcore Flames fan

I was just saying that Flames ex-players are doing well in the playoffs. Let's hope we get good player with the pick we got for benny. So far, we got Anderson and Dube for the 2nd round picks we received in trades. Hope Flames will pick up a great player with that pick

I'd give an honourable mention to McDavid for his braindead giveaway that led to the third goal about 3 seconds later.
(And maybe if Tippett had called a timeout at that point #4 wouldn't have happened.)
That being said, I'd never mistake Smith for #34.
