Prolly what BUF will ask for, Caufield + Poehling + 1st and 2nd round pick

I would not have make the trade knowing what his health issue is

- habs88888

I'd give soooooooooooo much more than that. Like obscenely more than that without blinking

you mean we can't get it done with Danault + Drouin ?

Damm it !

- Xizord

Purely for salary reasons, assuming Drouin wants to play again just not in MTL, I could see him included in the deal but adding nearly no value

i always hate this game but Montreal's best young player is Suzuki and their top prospect is Caufield so those two are the starting point.

You should go read their blog and see what the fans think he's gonna command in a trade. They'd say Caufield, Suzuki, Romanov and 2 firsts

If I were Buffalo and I'd consider doing it, it's Caufield, Suzuki or Kotkaniemi but obviously value changes, Guhle, let's say Drouin and Chiarot for cap reasons, and start counting out the picks and b prospects. Long story short the price would be ugly.

Doesn't really matter, he'll likely be a Ranger or King, Buffalo isn't trading him to a team that's probably back in their division next year or the year after

If doctors and insurance signs off on it, without hesitation

I will rather go with what we have if we have to give up that much, not really sure if it’s a fit. If he doesn’t perform we take a big step back

Suzuki, Kotkaniemi, Danault: they're all nice players and I'm happy to have them and a fan. That said there are levels to this stuff and Eichel is on a level that frankly they have next to no chance of ever achieving. Teams that win Cup's tend to have at least one C on "that" level. I want one and if one comes available I accept that you'll most likely have to pony up and pay market price for it. You want a Ferrari, even used one's aren't cheap

Say that trade does it with Caufield, Suzuki and Romanov going the other way, if KK does not develop and Danault does not resign we are screwed at either the 2nd or 3rd C position, would you not agree?

I think Suzuki can get close to a Eichel if things turn out well. KK won't

Ok, but in that scenario with no trade, you're just as screwed at C except with Suzuki instead of Eichel. Romanov and Caufield could be great players but won't stop me from trying to get an elite one

TB have very good players but a C at that level? nope.
Is Bergeron at that level? nope.
Is Toews? nope.
Colorado, Edmonton, Toronto... last time I checked didn't win a cup.

I guess I like prime Toews and Bergeron more than you but fair point. I'd still argue that none of the Habs "C's are or are likely to be Toews or Bergeron, Suzuki with an outside chance. Hope I'm wrong

oh I agree with you on that point, but the need to have a McDavid or a Matthews to win the cup... nope.
you need a well balanced team, depth at center yes, a good goalie, a bit of luck... beside PIT, not many Cup champions had a superstar C.
I really like Toews and Bergeron, but they are not (and never been) 100 points players.
