It's possible.
It's also possible Halle Berry will be waiting for me in my condo tonight with a drink and wearing lingerie. - Rang

They also did a full rebuild unlike the reset that MB has been doing for the past many years - habs88888
the hawks never did a full rebuild. they were just terrible for years and finally got lucky. everyone forgets how much tallon screwed up the hawks coming out of the strike. those teams are why they were able to draft toews and kane. after tallon missed on a couple other top 7 picks. |

I'm a Habs fan. but as a kid, being a goalie, Tony Esposito was my favorite player. I also catched with the right hand (very rare at the time), and had the same butterfly stand. - fidopro

Not ready to throw in the towel on this young centre line, in Carey Price’s words: chill out. There’s no way they should sell the farm for Eichel because they’ll have nothing else.
Also it won’t be 15 M in goaltending next yearAllen goes down to 2.8M for 2 years starting next year and I still believe they’ll keep him. Suzuki’s 41 points this year pro rated gives him a 60 points output in a 82 game season and he did it in a season where he hit a bit of a wall. KK needs some time, proper development, proper wingers and STABILITY. Resign Danault, keep Evans and Poehling will also be fighting for a place next year. If these guys develop and we have Caufield, Toffoli, Anderson, Gallagher, Ylonen to complement the centres, they’re not in such a rough spot. Especially if most of the D prospects work out.
So yeah, I guess I’m saying stop panicking, the window is not now, will be in a few years. And I don’t think the Habs will have such a rough time in the old division next season if the off-season goes well. |

By 20 years old (KK's age) he had 59 points in 66 games leading his team in goals despite missing 16 games. |

that's one way to do it. I prefer the other option, like BOS. they did not tank, they didn't pick top 5 often, and yet are always good. like some other teams WHO DRAFT VERY WELL. - fidopro
2011 Boston is probably the only cup winning example where they built their entire team top to bottom with later picks. Getting Chara was a nice FA signing to. A pretty impressive feat indeed. |

Eichel is an interesting conundrum.
He could clearly be the 1C the Habs need, but it appears he is not an elite level player or difference maker. The dilemma management faces over the next few years will be acquiring a 1C (preferably elite level) and a second elite level player, all while shedding both long-term overpriced contracts. This will be difficult to do, as any team taking Price or Weber will insist on high-picks and/or prospects in return. Unfortunately, these picks and prospects will be needed to draft or trade for the needed elite talent.
I would suggest the GM should determine if Eichel is interested in coming to Montreal, and if so, determine what Buffalo would accept in return. If the Sabres new GM is considering a reset to their rebuild, there is a chance the Habs might be able to make a large enough deal to acquire Eichel while shedding one of the onerous contracts. This would certainly cost a few picks and prospects, but it might provide a quicker path to reopening the playoff and Stanley Cup windows. |

Not an elite player/difference maker? Wut. He was over ppg in the two seasons prior to this one in that dumpster fire organization. Lol who do you consider elite? |
