even in buffalo and wpg, it's his turning/mobility that caused me concern. it's not getting better. we'll see. - RealityChecker
He showed a mean streak in the PO’s. Refs were tough on him for being big but he sent a message. |

It was a beginning. He hasn’t been stellar but been ok. - Nighthawk
there's just so many questionable decisions by this management group.
you, me and the people with eyes have known that this D corps needs help. i find it utterly incompetant that they didn't draft a single Dman in 2019.
btw, that was the draft that JB's had the most picks (9) in his tenure. |

You can get away with it if the whole team as that mentality, if the refs officiated the Panthers/Bolts/Caps/Bruins/Blues like they do with Myers, those teams would be shorthanded 10 times every playoff game. Myers sticks out like a sore thumb because the team around him doesn't engage like that enough.
Hopefully that improves eventually. |

he definitely struggles against the faster players in the league, not argument there. Ideally he's paired with a good skater giving you a nice balance of size and skating on a pairing. - Nucker101

BPA is always the best way to go, make trades later instead of drafting someone lower on your list. |

It's the same with Hughes this season, any young player that has one season where they struggle a bit and suddenly that player should be traded. - Nucker101
boeser has flourished, not struggle. he is a -2 on a losing team, which shows that he isn't the problem in a sea of -10 or worse. His production is almost at a PPG, doing it away from EP, which shows that he is his own line driver. Hughes has been misused IMO. Hamonic has been a pretty good partner for him, but needs to understand that Hughes is the risk taker, not him. |

I’ve continuously harped on the need for top RHD & every year say go for Pietrangelo or Hamilton etc. I’ve no problem paying big for a big top 2 RHD of that ilk. An instant fix albeit costly but it can turn around a team instantly. It buys & allows time to draft/develop more D. Aka TB Carolina etc. |

Idk what or how but maxing cap has LTIR implications.
That said Sutter out opens cap. Add to that other cap saved on other moves or LTIR or buyouts. - Nighthawk
you're right. you only get LTIR if you are maxed on the cap. obviously, you don't need LTIR if you have enough cap space to cover injuries.
to your second point, there is light at the end of this cap tunnel. why not save some of that money, rather than spend it right away? there always seems to be deals that pop up unexpectedly. |

Yes BPA & why a trade down works in some cases. Target need while getting BPA & another asset/pick. |

those would definitely change the complexion of the D but for me, the cost would be too high.
although, i've always advocated keeping cap space so that you can sign the big UFA when your team is almost there. i just have never thought they got to that point because they kept making ufa/trade/signing mistakes. but the tank/draft and develop method (that i wanted) isn't exclusively draft and develop. after the formation of the core is when you go out and get the impactful complementary pieces.
i keep pointing back to the blackhawks and hossa. that was a game changer for that team and they were able to do it because they had cap space at the time. |

No one outed as the Player flying to his home after today's game ?
Just an amusing rumour. |

True but a find a way when the rare opportunity a top RHD is on the market.
Timing goes out the window & gotta pounce when possible then figure it out later. |
