Flames are in a heap of disarray making our problems pale significantly. What a shlt show after their long term signings lol. - Nighthawk
How do you figure that?
When I google the worse nhl contracts, we get Erickson at #5, Beartchi #17, Beagle#29 throw in Schmidt’s 6 mil boy that’s really cap management. |

The 2 biggest needs indeed.
I prefer to shed cap & entice the Kracken.
MDP/JV/LE possibly. Hoping that flies.
A D for Hughes tops my list then can move onto a 3C in various ways. I don’t think we’ve the assets yet to trade so I lean towards a UFA 3C. We need picks to keep stockpiling for the future. - Nighthawk
Can also acquire a legit top 6W and then have Miller moved to C, spread the wealth by giving them all at least one skilled winger and have 3 scoring lines.
Plenty of possibilities! |

Thoughts...
Motte Danault Highmore
Lockwood Graovac Lind
Gads could platoon - Nighthawk
I think Podkolzin is going to have a Hoglander-type of impact, so that means you either have PodK or Pearson on 3rd line. Danault would be a great 3C, plays PK, can play PP2, takes a huge defensive load off of Bo to score more. |

No doubt LE. Baertschi is UFA. Beagle looks done. Schmidt wasn’t the problem. Flames made many offseason long term signings & an epic fail. I don’t see a bright future for them at all. I’m using the Flames only as an example that the Canucks have big challenges but not alone. |

However it gets done it remains that the 3rd line is an abyss that has to be immensely better for long term success. The D has to be better as we all we all know. |

He's massive upgrade for the 3rd line and indirectly improves the 2nd line, less minutes for Bo so he's fresher, less defensive responsibilities for Bo so he can focus on being more of a scorer. You'll get more offense out of both the 2nd and 3rd lines if you sign Danault. |

Exactly & allows less TOI for the 4th line to develop & play high energy shifts. |

Platoon on the wing going with who is hot. Create real higher level competition. Double shift even. |

Watching the playoffs, I agree that this is the formula. 3 lines that can score and be relied on, a 4th line that leaves it all on the ice with tons of energy due to limited minutes and responsibility. |

3rd & 4th lines need a ton of speed & tenacity. We might have that if managed properly. It needs a glue guy at 3C to make it work. |

A strong 3C will make his wingers better as well, some of these good playoff teams have lesser know 3rd line wingers that are effective due to playing with a solid 3C. |

The playoff like intensity should help the coaching staff really get a good look at the progress being made by some of these guys. |

It's no different than pre-season games, it's a good opportunity to give these bubble guys a look. The bubble players on both teams will be competing hard for jobs next year, the top guys will likely float a bit, that's undeniable. |

Focus on building a good 3rd line takes the heat off the top 2 lines on off nights. Also needed for any deep PO run. Further allows the 4th line to be insulated & play better less minutes. |
