They just need to draft better. Canucks need to find their own gems, and stop looking to acquires other teams for premiums.
- Codes1087

Never thought we’d go for Cirelli.

We did draft Boeser at 23rd but since then we’ve drafted higher hits & misses. Need to mine more later picks for sure.

If we can shed salary as a priority we can add a player or 2 from teams needing help for the e-draft. I don’t see a 3C coming but hoping more for a RHD in that scenario.

I’m not concerned with what the rest of the league does.

They guys who carry the team aren’t consistent enough. They are still a long way away.

Agree to disagree not sure what kind of production you're expecting out of them.

this is how they got in the cap mess they are in.

it's time to bite the bullet and keep what you got and let the contracts expire. by trying to find a premium 3c now, they'll just limit their flexibility next or the season after.

but getting a premium 3c is perfect for a "what do we need today?" style of management.

Reading comprehension is weak as hell

We're discussing long term fits and solutions ffs, if Danault is too expensive then wait. The window opens during the 22/23 season, there's plenty of time between now and then. Were just dissing him as a possibility and the benefits of acquiring him or a similar player at some point in the future. It's not Danault or bust.

Disagree. There is no prospect in the system that projects as a top 3C or close. That said drafting more & RHD remain a need for the future.

Has there been a sale on Canuck pajamas?
- A_SteamingLombardi

no need. this fanbase buys whatever the team is selling.

you say your pajamas are too big? not to worry. you'll develop into them in 2 years.

yeah, because UFAs best years with a team are always 3-5 years down the road. they're always appreciating assets.

Capable of playing all situations would be nice.

1+PPG + playing in all situations gotcha. So basically you want a core of superstars who are all top 30 players in the league.

That is a serious problem for a GM who has had 7 years to rebuild the team.

that wasn't my point.

my point is that you run with what you got. when you're actually about to compete (and they are not now, nor next year) is when you go out and sign/trade for impact players.

by signing a impactful UFA now, the team will be better next year but when they are truly able to make the jump, that UFA will most likely be on the decline.

so, the point you missed is that you either draft and develop them (which you'll find out in 2-3 years) or you go out and get that in 2-3 years when the team is ready to fully compete.

you guys think that they are 1 or 2 players away. even JB said 2 years. and that's coming from a guy who was trying to save his job.

Hopefully but need that time to develop & dominate in the minors while doing so. The added time by getting a true good 3C allows that.
