For all (JB included) debating the merits of covid being an excuse for the season, the season was over by then already. They had a little streak to make it look more respectable, but that was going to even itself out.
The season was lost in the off-season when JB broke the cardinal rule - if it ain't broke don't fix it. Keep Tanev (for Hughes alone) and keep Toffoli instead of Schmidt and Holtby. - Sayros
There are many things that went wrong this season and not least of it what preceded. Mistakes were made and all the factors contributed to the step back. Plenty of blame to go around.
Let's see if the augments in management and coaching will improve the on ice product. Though it's clear that in the meantime stewardship changes are being formed. |

ya and his career is on the downswing. 3 goals and 21 assists may as well bring Tanev back lol - LordHumungous
He also has 10.5M on 3 of those years i believe in actual salary. |

Imo we need defensive RHD.
Landy will be pricier so I donโt see it.
3C is a bigger need. - Nighthawk
Risto plays heavy minutes in all situations, no?
How about Josh Manson? Anaheim is rebuilding and he doesn't fit into their plans long term. He seems perfect for Hughes to me. Basically a top 4 version of what Schenn was |

8.25 cap hit for 6 more seasons. No thanks. - manvanfan
Schmidt is $6 for 4 years, and the same age. I'd say OEL is the better defender of the two.
Too bad they can't restructure contracts in the NHL. That'd be a nice wrinkle. |

Jordan Greenway from Minny to shore up the bottom 6 and maybe even move up the lineup to play with EP when teams try to rough him up?
I believe he won't be protected by them - Nucker101
Miller for Greenway and Joel Erikson Ek? |

Exactly, plus you're also offloading some cap space for this year in that trade. |

I think that its like Schmidt coming in. Looks better then he is and playing in tight defensive system in Arizona.
Id call him different than Schmidt but I dont know about better. |

How would Subban fit under the current country-club status? Heard he's quite the locker room cancer. 3 teams in 5 years. - LordHumungous

If the team needs extra cash flow , it's a simple solution, name the farm team in abbotsford the Canucks and use the Johnny Canuck logo/jerseys, guaranteed top seller |

I've been a Manson fan for awhile now, has decent fancy stats, passes the eye test, can PK, has experience in a shutdown role, and has his team's back when things get ugly. He checks a lot of the boxes for me. |

Thatโs interesting. Hurts the top 6 but great C depth is great. Pod Hog & other prospect wingers would need to step up. Cap saving moves added to that could make for a rosier future. |

They better get started on picking out e-draft unprotected players to get good value trades.

I just don't see the point in discussing Miller trades, he was mentioned by name as a core player by Aquilini today in the letter to season ticket holders. It would be weird to see him traded just. a few weeks later lol.
Schmidt was left off, interestingly so was Myers. |

Tampa needs to shed salary pretty badly so you'd have to think they'd consider it.
I really like Hog though, that would hurt. |

Maybe. TB over the cap by 5m with 19 signed. They get an ELC controlled good winger & a pick.

he has one year left, he was a stopgap/mentor for Demko(a SC winning goalie to have around Demko is not a bad idea). Comparing him to Loui is a joke. - Nucker101
I mean not in the sense of the clusterf*ck of a signing and impact to team with loui obviously 6 years ... but for next year they're in the same boat in my opinion. 10 dead million dollars.
Holtby looked like a street hockey goalie out there. Moving all in on every shot ... if there was a deflection or pass to the side, he was 6 feet out of the net. I mean I applaud his effort, that's how goalie used to be played ... but not anymore. It's blocking not making saves nowadays.

Covid protocols limited practice time, more time with Clark or a new goalie coach could help him. |

Honestly, I probably would. Would try to push that second back a round, or try to get a 5th/6th back from Arizona... but ya, not the worst. The right side of the defense is still weak as all hell though.
Myers...? - NewYorkNuck
Let's not forget we are still likely one of the only teams he will accept a trade to. This also free's us up to use one of OJ or Bone to trade for another RHD.
Hughes - Hamonic
OEL - ?
OJ/Bone - Myers |
