I wouldn't jump for a D in this draft. I think a few forwards have real underrated play driving ability.

Jaden Schwartz, Joe Pavelski types.

Which group do you think will be available if the Canucks stay pat at their draft positions? I knows it’s hard to predict this year but what’s your guess on who will still be on the board?

Where we are picking, I fully expect a forward. Hoping McTavish, who I have at 5 is available.

Next year the schedule and pandemic excuses won't apply.
- VanHockeyGuy

Of course not but it was facts more so than excuses. When those are combined it was an uphill battle.

Crammed sched to start the season & a poor record.
Long covid break.
Petey injured.
Very crammed sched to end the season.

Add it all up & we sucked. Not sugar coated.

I'm willing to write this year as a one-off and see what happens next season with a healthy squad over a full 82 games. FA is giving Benning and Green their rope for a few more seasons so it is what it is. I'm ok with it as the core looks good moving forward and Pods next year. Plus a good pick we'll se where it goes. Until ownership stops meddling changing Benning or Green at this stage doesn't accomplish much IMO.

Pretty much my take. Call the season a lost cause & start anew. Everyone will be under the microscope & the scrutiny that will ensue should be intense. If it goes off the rails then expect swift action. Use the offseason to assess options for management & coaching if mid season changes are needed.

the 2011 Stanley Cup final was a best of 3 and the canucks swept.

you're just proving LH's point.

I heard he was supposed to be a funny guy? Doesn't matter anyway, Benning may be able to flip him for a 7th rounder if he retains salary.

that's what JB said and things quickly went sideways:

My much too early expectations...

Next year we should see a revamped bottom 6.
Better cap management as vets go on LTIR or unsigned or bought out.
More change on the D.
Come out of the gate on a mission.
I will still want new associate coaches.

😆 go see my rankings. I should slot them into tiers though.... (thinking)

Depends on team needs and wants. I will have a goal scorer, play driver, two way defender in a row. All in the same tier but with different attributes.

Like Pastrnak, Marchand, Bergeron. If team needs a center you pick Ber. If you need a scorer you pick Pasta. If they need a pest, you pick marchand but they all have similiar value to the team.

Thanks Carol. Seems emotions are running wild over what's going on in Nuck Nation. It's insane how much is being made up.

If Van picked him in the top 10. It would be Hughes disappointment level at 7 for me. 🤣

For a guy who says listen to your health authorities every day you seem to think covid is a joke when it comes to the Canucks. Why is that?

What's the over/under on "and stuff" being uttered by JB this morning?

- NewYorkNuck

Should have set the over under on how many times Covid was alluded to.

This is the most important off-season in Canuckland in a very long time. Hopefully they do some of the right things and get this ship sailing in the right direction.
The draft and the trades etc associated with the draft.is going to be a huge factor in determining the direction of this team.

Just about every NHL analyst said all season that 19 games in 30ish days to start the season was going to be really tough.

But hear its just an excuse.

When you mentioned him at 5. All I can now think about is the Barrett Hayton hype that landed him at 5. Same type of player that had a mature game that was ready to step into the NhL.

We just have different opinions, all good.
