I’m guessing some of the 2022 UFA’s will be on the buyout list.

Allows Benning to maybe make a trade with a deeper team like Colorado or Tampa before the ED or sign a quality UFA to a reasonable deal thanks to the deflated flat cap market.

That seems a very likely or viable plan.

For all (JB included) debating the merits of covid being an excuse for the season, the season was over by then already. They had a little streak to make it look more respectable, but that was going to even itself out.

The season was lost in the off-season when JB broke the cardinal rule - if it ain't broke don't fix it. Keep Tanev (for Hughes alone) and keep Toffoli instead of Schmidt and Holtby.

Your point of view might change if they were personal friends with no underlying conditions and were under 55. Give that some thought.

I don't get why all the hate for Miller lately. I mean I admit, he seems like a bit of a douche on the ice body language wise ... seemed a bit full of himself this year after having a great year last year. But like we don't have a lot of gamebreakers and he is definitely one of them.

Holtby seems like the type who plays better with a workhorse workload and he only has one year left. I don’t see why he would be considered by Seattle. What other goalies with his pedigree will be available to them?

He’s a good player, which is why I want to read him and his reasonable contract for a top4 D ideally.

So the guy who's only great GM attribute is drafting, failed at that, and now he has to use his weakest skillsets to make up for that while being constrained by his own cap problems?

2. Some of those "failed" signings were quality players before injuries derailed their careers, Sutter/Roussel/Ferland and then the Virtanen off-ice mess could not have been predicted
