Is this his two year plan from last year, or a new two year plan?

Honestly, it's more disheartening than anything. FA keeps believing him, and he keeps making the same mistakes/changes/problems over and over.

1. Flat cap was not expected and could not have been recited years in advance

2. Some of those "failed" signings were quality players before injuries derailed their careers, Sutter/Roussel/Ferland and then the Virtanen off-ice mess could not have been predicted

- Nucker101

Poe's law is an adage of Internet culture stating that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, it is impossible to create a parody of extreme views such that it cannot be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of the views being parodied.

"We want to add speed and depth to our forward group. Some of the players were going to take the next step in their development. Some of the 23/24-year-old guys that we thought would keep moving forward and taking more responsibility, didn't happen, that's on me." -Jim Benning

"We need more speed upfront. When Vasily Podkolzin is done with the World Championships we will get him signed. We need to add some speed and veteran leadership to our scoring group." -Jim Benning on wanting to be a 3-line scoring team

Expensive free agent or trade coming for another Miller type.

- manvanfan

If they can get an impact player like that for the back end, this off-season will be a success, and next year will be fun

Iā€™d still move Schmidt out unless he has a reasonable reason for skipping exit meetings unless that was another false flag planted by the local media

Someone posted this in HF boards and it looks plausible:

To VAN:
Oliver Ekman-Larsson

To ARI:
Nate Schmidt
Antoine Roussel
Loui Eriksson (buy-out)
VAN's '21 2nd (40th overall)

Saves us 6m in cap this year, upgrades Schmidt. Saves Arizona cash now and in the future while getting decent value in players back.
OEL buyout is at 2.5m per season now and drops every year until he actually needs to be bought out. Could probably get 3-4 solid years out of him before that and his buyout becomes quite cheap with a higher cap than today.

So the guy who's only great GM attribute is drafting, failed at that, and now he has to use his weakest skillsets to make up for that while being constrained by his own cap problems?

Oy vey.

- NewYorkNuck

I don't know how you came up with the failed at drafting part. At no point in there does it say he failed at drafting. It said he failed at helping them to take the next step in becoming better players.

That would be NHL development not drafting.

Thoughts on Ryan Graves?

Colorado has to protect Makar, Girard and E.Johnson

Should we divide the posters among their vaccination type and truly start team and gangs in here? Everyone eventually banding together and ganging up on the anti-vaxxers?

What people choose to do in their personal lives is their own business. I'm trying my best to move on and stick to Hockey. I'll just continue to let the champs make asses of themselves on vaccinations and covidbuzz in here daily. People believe what they believe. No one is changing any minds in here either way lol

Also, Holtby is not movable ... no way. He was trending down hard before we signed him.

he has one year left, he was a stopgap/mentor for Demko(a SC winning goalie to have around Demko is not a bad idea). Comparing him to Loui is a joke.

Do it.
Sign Landeskog as a UFA too.
Trade Miller.

You lost me at Miller. Landy and Graves would be massive if they can clear the cap.

Honestly, I probably would. Would try to push that second back a round, or try to get a 5th/6th back from Arizona... but ya, not the worst. The right side of the defense is still weak as all hell though.

Better get the Sedins signed soon so they can get in Landeskogs ear after the playoffs. šŸ˜

Makes a lot of sense for both sides. OEL is a captain, plays all situations, can eat up big minutes. He would be exactly what the doctor ordered.

I'd be down for OEL trade for Schmidt as suggested above and then signing Landy. Sedin influence and 2 captains added to the Locke room would be massive.

why was there a need to be so close to the cap when everyone knew that they weren't close to competing for the playoffs?

or are you saying that those quality players would have made them playoff contenders?

and are you also saying that those contracts only turned out badly because of injury. you do not feel that they were overpayments?

furthermore, with respect to ferland, you didn't think the risk of injury was still there? if you don't think the risk is exaggerated for someone like ferland, can you tell me why the insurer refused to cover his contract? or set the premiums so high that ferland's contract is one of the few in the league not insured?

Schmidt being able to play both sides is a +
But getting out of all that salary is enticing.

OEL had a down year. Might be good opportunity to buy low.

it was a joke. nobody in here convinces anybody of anything. It was mainly said to get a rise out of Donny, who was so envious of Pfizer/Modern when he had to get AZ
