Kerfoot line with the most possession last night. Good game.
Some power play points for other guys who were out shot and out possessed. 🤷🏻♂️
Willie has some flashes, but I agree I don’t like when he has a 6 foot lead to get the puck and comes out of the corner without ever touching it...but thats Nylander, he won’t be changing so we just need him to score/help on the PP. - Garnie

Nylander is never going to be a grinder. And grinders don't carry the puck through the neutral zone, snipe wristers, or dish perfect sauce passes. There's different roles on a team.
And like I've said a few times at least, for a guy who's 'perimeter', Willy spends an awful lot of time putting pucks in the net from the crease. He manages to get there somehow.
I don’t think Simmonds is out there because of his SAT. The guy has been terrible at hockey, same as Joe the last bit. Simmonds is there so other guys don’t have to fight etc. IMO - Garnie
Simmonds isn't out there because of his SAT, but if his career CF% was 43, instead of 49.7, he wouldn't have been considered when Kyle was signing players. As for Joe Thornton, he has been one of the top players in the NHL in shot stats for years, and even failing with age he was still second on the team this year.

Did you notice where Thornton was on the PP goal by Sandin? I think Bergevin did, whole Habs organization went apesh!t - need more! He needs to park his ass in front of Price on the PP. Simmonds set the tone for the game on the first shift. He roughed up Anderson all night.

They both have been meh for awhile.
I agree Joe used to be awesome and had a good start with us (his most mins are with Matthews/Marner so his Sat is going to be good ) now I’m nervous when he’s on the ice. He seems to fumble it a lot lately, might be his stick he’s using from 1992 or something.

Some Observations....
Matthews played like a leader , awesome. Marner is still looking a bit lost in the playoffs again, how he didnt shoot on that open net is just weird. He has to simplify things. Nylander was better than ever , skating hard and making plays, big goal too. Engvall is playing well the last month, he has to stay in the lineup. Sandin looked great on the PP and actually shot the puck, keep him on the PP1.
Simmonds did what he needs to do and keep doing, cause poop . Thornton was ok, nothing great I thought, his speed is a problem. Spezza was great and scored a huge goal .
Campbell was solid, cant ask for more.
Final note, Foligno is very underwhelming right now. This is not what we traded for , I expected a couple big hits from him and to cause some poop. I dont care if he scores or not, I want him punishing the habs. - CarlitoBrigante
Pretty darn good on the face-offs last night. Only lost two I think.

I think every single guy on this Leafs team will have a positive impact in the playoffs. They’ll find and establish a role in each and every game, no matter how big or small, and it all matters, right to the minute detail. Rebuffing intimidation is key, and the OG’s have seen it all, so others will take their lead and do what they do. Players like Kerfoot choose to play fearless hockey, and that can be contagious.

I'm totally in favor of the Habs putting the kids in. The young forwards are a huge liability defensively. Will one make our offensive game more potent while allowing the Habs lose 6-2 instead 5-1.
