You’re out to lunch.
The Oilers are way ahead of Vancouver.
I mean. Just look at the standings.
I’d swap rosters in a heartbeat.
Much easier to fix their holes imo. - dbot
Idc about standings. Cup runs trump it.
Oilers been at it for many years & still are a disappointment. More frustrating than our struggle to be relevant again. |

President's trophies are what matter the most.
Since losing in the finals. Oilers have missed playoffs 12 of 15 times. - manvanfan
Oilers waste picks & talent like no other team. |

and McDavid and Draisati are better than anyone on our rosters. - dbot

The standings are a clear indication that they have a better team.
I don’t “care” about standings either, but it shows they’re better.
They definitely bungled they’re drafting for years, which is hilarious, but they’ve got McD and Dre, which gives em a better chance at making the cup than us at this point.

If Mahomes had an offensive line, they probably beat the bucs. Supporting cast is just as important, id say moreso important as without a string D it doesn't matter. Just ask your boy Russell - neem55
Again, I’m not saying any one player in any of these leagues can win by themselves. My argument is that stars in the NHL are more reliant on team depth than stats in the NBA and star NFL QB’s.
Put Mahomes on a poop team and he’s definitely not winning a SB ring, no argument there from me. |

I’ve heard it’s incredibly easy to to work trades, FA signings and buyouts to create cap space, and top 6 wingers are easy to find, and Covid so players will sign $1m deals. Oilers should be able to benefit from these simple facts. |

Ok.
I thought we were comparing Vancouver and Edmonton rosters.
Neither are contenders at this point, but Edmonton is closer imo. |

The Oil scare nobody & far from being a contender. Go through coaches & GM’s like crazy.
Could it be the roster?
The culture?
Leadership? |

Is that Marwood's excuse?

I'm a huge Marino fan, clearly.
Teams under his guidance were either SB contenders or non-playoff teams or anything in between. I saw 14 win teams and I saw 6 win teams with the same player.
His 1984 season is so legendary that it's level wasn't approached for 2 decades and could be argued that it never was until Mahomes 2nd year.
Still, without a supporting case he was nothing more than fun to watch on Sundays. If they had the ball last and were down by a score or less than he had a good chance of pulling it off.
It's a league with 22 starters, coaching is the only position in the NFL that can affect the team as much as you'd like to believe. |

If you are Jim Benning, are you clearing the decks to make a run for Ovi?
And if so, do you try and make a trade to be able to negotiate before other teams? - 1970vintage

Of all the North teams the Flames & Oilers are disappointments. The Canucks are included but I like our future more so. |

We won a playoff round, that's it that's all. It was accomplished on the strength of goaltending and that very same goaltending made it look like were much closer than we were. |

Sure, you can always MTA him or just put him on the LTIR if it doesn't work out. |

Top D after a good tender goes a long ways. A top C is always an important piece but cannot carry a team on his own. Yzerman on 1 leg beat us. He was a true all around superstar that had a total game. Sakic was pretty good as well. Crosby another star with a complete game.
When will McD improve his game at his cost like they did? - Nighthawk
Canucks could use at least 3 of those. |
