Benning possibly gets fired if this team doesn’t clearly improve next year, he kinda has to improve the roster. FA is probably demanding it - Nucker101
Last season there were trades to be made for teams trying to clear a little space for others. I can see the same, Schmidt may not have been stellar on a team that was less than stellar but worth a 3rd still. - manvanfan
He needs a bounce back year which I believe will happen. RHD was a sore point. Fix that & we are much improved. Is that where JB will be aggressive?
Now if the dominos & the order in which it plays out is done well could change that outlook. Comes down to the 1st big move & what comes after that. Crucial the order of events has been identified & executed. - Nighthawk
Tampa Bay used 1st round picks for coleman and Goodrow. Washington used 1st round pick for mantha. Isles used a 1st round pick for Palmieri, and another 1st round pick for pageu the year before. Boston used 2nds for hall. These are all cup contending teams using their late first round picks to get better and go for a cup.
Ottawa, New Jersey, Detroit all sold high on these players as they are comitting to rebuilding. Detroit even getting vrana back was huge bonus. The canucks should be lumped in with the group selling, not buying IMO. We are statistically the same as Ottawa, NJ, Detroit.
Danault might price out of here.
Granlund be my next target.
A solid 3C for $4.5m or less I can live with. Going cheap won’t get it done unless JB looks like a genius. The fanbase doesn't hold out for that lol - Nighthawk
The worst part is, is that it's finally going to be a good market for free agents this off season, and as a non-playoff team, we SHOULD have had the cap space to go after some. The irony of Benning saying he's going to be active in trades and free agency when he restricted himself with bad cap management prior is Benning at his finest.

Standings/Statically wise I agree.
Us trading a top 10 1st is a move to improve & not wait for a prospect. The right player would make that my choice. We are past the early rebuilding phase. Into the add to depth & PO push for many years.
Not 100% saying to trade a 1st but am saying it has to be both for a key piece that fills need & on a good contract.
Team D is the biggest priority to fix & the system is problematic.

For JB to pull it off he’ll need to be creative & more shrewd than the past. Most fans don’t believe it & need to see it.
Remake the bottom 6 in-house.
3C needed for a depth scoring line.
On the ice the current roster has to be better & continue to improve. Therein lies my biggest expectation.

Standings wise statistically wise and reality dictates that both Ottawa and Detroit already have better talent than the Canucks.

JV/3rd for Cernak/Johnson(retain 1.25m) - Nighthawk
You didn't think Hogs was an overpay for Cernak so now you bottom out with JV...?...lol
If disgruntled RFA Nolan Patrick, who probably won't get e-draft protection, can be got for JV would be big ask. At least Flyer's can be sold on woke Krack won't take him.
