I think it's also important to note that Winnipeg swept the Oilers in part due to how well Pionk played. The days where bigger is better doesn't really apply anymore. Besides, we already have Trouba and Lindgren that provide some grit back there. I don't think Miller will develop into a push over either.
Ugh work PC acting up don't know why it put the cursor there.

Watching these playoffs, do you think we need a couple sub 6’, 180lb defensemen or 2 guys that are 6’2 and 6’4, 215lbs? |

Nothing saying that we can't do that. We already have a couple of those bigger pieces in CK and Kakko. I think Laf can put on some weight and get a mean streak in him as well.

There is no evidence to support this, merely speculation.
Just because he might not play in NY, he won't have any interest in being in the best league in the world?
I think there's a good chance you are mistaken here. - Tonybere
Im sure he does want to play in the NHL, Im just saying he might just wait it out and become a free agent. I hope not, I hope things can get worked out, maybe some players flipping sides, who knows, but I dont want to trade him at all, for anyone including our coveted 2C. |

I don't think Lundkvist should be an untouchable
to me, besides the NMC guys, there are only 3 absolute untouchables, Lafreniere, Fox and Shesterkin
but it would take incredible trades to be willing to part with Kakko or Lundkvist |

I can understand that. I don't want to trade him either. But, I feel the same way to varying degrees about Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Jones, Schneider, Robertson, Reunanen and Skinner.
So, somethings gotta give. So long as any trades are PROPERLY addressing our needs, we have to find a way to live with it. |

Introducing Pionk here because he had a good series against a VERY flawed Oiler team isn't relevant. Pionk had a GREAT season with the Jets, but I wouldn't undo that trade. Our roster still needs more Trouba-like players.
Pionk would not have had such a good season had he been playing in our division this past crazy season. He would have had some serious issues playing against the Bruins, Isles, etc. Pionks numbers were clearly skewed by playing in what we now know was the weakest division in the NHL. |

I like Trouba a lot, the team fell apart without him, not a coincidence

My point wasn't to say I wanted to undo that trade, it was that it was an example of an effective smaller defender, and we shouldn't dismiss guys like Jones for that fact.

tell me you didn't blow balloons and put out party hats around the house thinking JD and Gorton getting fired was the door for Tony D to come back
PLEASE - jimbro83
I said with them gone he could come back, much different than wanting them gone or being happy about it |

I'm not sure why people expected anything different. ESPN has been trash since the early 2000s

True, but the Rangers don't need more smaller defenders than what we already have. |

If he can play, it shouldn't matter. I'm accidently flagging any post if someone says they'd rather have a blue line of 6 Lindgrens than 6 Foxes because of size.
Besides, Jones is 5 11. Is that one inch really making a difference? Tell the kid to hit the gym and call it a day if he's got skill

maybe its because we played those Caps games at the end of season and that team is gigantic, but, it just seemed to me like Zac Jones was extremely tiny
I see him listed as 5-11 but also 5-10 other places, I think he's closer to 5-10

He also uses a stick designed for a 8 year old, that didn't help |

I doubt Fox and Lindgren are going anywhere, Id just rather keep Schneider, the others I would trade for a 2C.
Id love to do a Miller for Turcotte swap with LA. |

I think the basis for a deal could happen with that, however, LA needs to kick in more

Centers are a premium and we are loaded on the right side. If they kicked in a second or third rounder, would you do it? |
