Exactly , Philadelphia isn’t New York it isn’t Toronto. We aren’t attracting any big name UFAs , thanks for confirming that. We get the second or third tier guy that you still have to overpay for. It’s worked out great! Thanks for playing .

Are you insane? Philadelphia isn’t Toronto? Name all the big name UFAs Toronto has pulled in the passed 20 years, let alone 10. You think my example of Jagr is bad, after being our third leading point getter his only season here. Joe Thornton is basically today’s Jagr for the leafs, if not worse. Who can you name? Alexander Mogilny? That’s the biggest name, unless you say Eric Lindros, Jason Allison, Jeff O’Neill, or Michael peca mall after their prime.

“The guy” in FA anymore is not a in their prime player more often than not.
Panarin wasn’t coming here.
Free agency isn’t what it used to be so it’s not really a strong argument that top Free agents don’t want to come here.
There are factors such as cap space roles on the team etc to factor in.

- bird_dog_pa

Three huge names all had choices, what does panarin wasn’t coming here mean? He wasn’t coming here, we were not a destination for the big UFA, what’s so hard to understand?

Tavares was bigger than all the flyer free agents , by a landslide.

I don’t know how much clearer any of us can make this for you. 30 teams of the 31 teams in the NHL had a zero chance of signing Tavares. He was always gonna become a leaf.

Let me break it down for you, three guys , three different ways to say no, whether it’s JT and his hometown, panarin and the big market, AP looking to go to a contender. It’s all a no, three big UFAs , no three different ways .

I get your point, but I also get what SSB is saying. We can at least agree that no matter what, none of the players mentioned were ever going to the Flyers or any other team except where they signed.

Just JT to be honest. The panarin reasoning, we aren’t the big stage, that’s a fact. A free agent would hold that against us and guess what, they did. Our roster, AP probably didn’t even think twice, no thanks. Those are actual reasons that kept us from getting big name UFAs, the hometown thing is more of an anomaly.

JT fine. But the Flyers would not have been able to sign AP to that deal. They simply did not have the cap space. If they had been able to offer 12 million for example, there would have been a good chance he would have come to Philly. You blame Philly and the franchise for not being a destination, I think it came down to who offered the most cash.

He only got 8.8, we would have made moves to fit him

And either way, your theory will bear itself out this summer because we both can agree that the Flyers need to land a big FA this summer, or at least acquire a big time player in a trade.

Maybe we are talking about a different AP. I assumed you meant Artemi Panarin. His cap hit is 11.6.

Yes, we need something. I’m in favor of tearing it down to be honest but doubt that management is willing.

no, I'm a guy that deals in logic and rational. Saying their injury situation is the same is like saying you and I have the same level of intelligence since we both have brains. see the difference.

Nate Thompson playing PK for Jets in key moments. Maybe we underrated the additions of him and Grant last season. Missed Pitlick for sure this year.

That cup run in 2010 was a lot of fun! Skimmed through some of the game in the blog. Great memories! Too bad they couldn’t seal the deal, but I miss that excitement!

Top six scorers were Richards, Carter, Giroux, Pronger, Hartnell & Briere. Drafting, big name free agents and great trades, things that are dying a slow death in Philly.

Oilers out, sweep, changes coming

If pens lose out they will make changes, my guess is Hexy moves Malkin and starts to the reload

Plenty of teams looking for answers. Only 1 team wins it all, the others will be changing things up.

This is the bottom line. Top end free agents are going elsewhere; this was never the case prior to the last decade of mediocrity. The "why" doesn't matter. More importantly is the Flyers are not even getting a seat at the table to pitch their team/organization.

What is the draw right now to want to come to Philly if your Dougie Hamilton or Landesog?

Add Vancouver as their GM as stated he is ready to wheel and deal.

What do the Oilers and Canucks have that would be available that would be of interest to the flyers is the question.

I do not see Hextall getting permission to move Malkin. Right now goaltending is failing them. They still can make a run or 2 with better goaltending.

There is no draw , only chance would be if dougie Hamilton got no offers elsewhere, he has bounced around quite a bit for such a good player.
