I hope q stays actually. That team has a bright future besides the bob contract... but if barkov decides he wants to leave I’d be more than happy.

If they do tear it down, it’s the second time in fairly recent history that the team made huge moves that screwed up the chemistry. The team has a lot going for it, to be sure. It’s all about $$$. The longer they’re in the playoffs, the better. That gate $ will be a welcome boost for the club. (NHL average is 1.7m per game based on average attendance of around 17-18K)

FL has some huge lay-outs, financially. Bobs making ~$10m/year and isn't even the Go-To guy. Sad state of affairs.

I think Detroit's going to be the last "dynasty" type club. By "dynasty" I mean a team that's a perpetual play-off team. It's almost like some teams think they can replicate what Detroit did back in the Glory Days. I just don't see that being done anymore. There was the perfect balance of players without ego, guys who wanted to play, and role-players who knew their role. There weren't guys making a bazillion $$$ that forced the team to have to trade/lose guys just so they could play and contribute. The perfect example is FLA (TPA as well...they're in Cap hell next year because, Kucherov not being on LTIR). Teams are now forced to pay out the *** for a high-profile player and hope that the other accept their role as 2d-tier players.

The next 2-3 years will be a massive change in how teams do business. And I'd offer that some teams may end up needing a life-line from the NHL to stay solvent. But I think this is also a good thing because you're not going to see may players signing $10m/yr contracts for a while.

FLA doesn't have anyone I would go after except Bobs, if he was willing to take a massive pay-cut. But even then, I'd be hard-pressed to do anything, other than go after Petro BIG TIME. Maybe Huberdeau? Barkov + a sweetener? Vatrano? I really don't know.

Until the final decisions are made on who stays and who goes after the season, it's really hard to say what's on my shopping list.....

Oh, and as far as the Oilers go; let them sink then cherry-pick some of the better players. Connor Mac is making $12.5m/year, so someone's going to have to go (Draisaitl? That kid's gonna make bank, but not in Edmonton....)., because they're not going to get what they want. Salary Cap as a Weapon.

I would not put Raymond as untouchable. I would easily include him in a trade for a solid young player that fills a need (center or left dman). To me i see his top potential as a Nyquist or Tatar. Good players but players you can do without...plus Raymond plays a position the Wings actually have depth for in young players and prospects.

Yzerman knows Seider is his only untouchable.

I’m just going off of the last word he sent to GMs. That’s from the horse’s mouth. He told those teams that, at this point, Larkin, Raymond and Seider were untouchable. I’m just passing information along with that. It may change, but that was the word given out

I wasn't questioning your info, just stating my opinion. I guess Yzerman has a much different view of Raymond than i do. I wouldn't think twice of including him in a deal that brings back a proven young top center or a proven young top left dman. Good wingers can be found easier in the draft, trades or even UFA market. Top centers or top defensemen are a lot harder to find in all of those avenues.

I might eat crow (will gladly do so if i'm wrong) but i don't see Raymond as a game changer like Kucherov, Ovechkin, Pasternak ect...i think he ends up as a Nyquist/Tatar type. Good but not a game changer. I have higher hopes for Berggren than i do for Raymond although i think injuries could easily derail both on the smaller ice and more physical play in North America. Both have had lots of injuries already which do concern me.
