Duh. McDavid has the Canadian Superstar training drilled into his head. If he said mangos were more flavourful than potatoes, I would be worried. |

what about point shots like Josh Morrisey's goal or shots from the face off dot like Ehlers goal or like the winner last night by Kyle Connor? - PatC80
Just watched, last goal was a bit weak but a good shot. All the other goals were pretty good, Morriseys doesn’t score that’s tipped in by Appleton. |

I think Smith even had the read on the tip - it was far enough out - but then it went off Nurse's skate, which beat him. |

I'm really looking forward to this afternoon and evening, as I anxiously keep checking my porch for the new air conditioner fan motor that needs to arrive before they can fix it. |

Shanny will probably sit most of the game instead of standing. |

Out of 25ish roster players, how much turnover could a GM achieve by trading some guys away?
Oilers should probably just keep McDavid, Draisaitl, RNH, Yamamoto, Klefbom, Nurse and Larsson. Plus a few prospects.
7 roster players.
Trade the other guys away, maybe buy out a few guys.
Bring in some guys via trades, and sign UFAs, maybe offersheet a guy?
I think it is the only way - almost have to approach this in a similar way as an expansion draft like Vegas did and Seattle is going to do..
Only like that the message to McDavid is clear that you really want him to succeed.
Not sure which GM would be the best to lead a team through such an off-season though.. definitely not Holland. - MaximusAurelius
Reading that Holland needs to have the "Bowman/Yzerman talk" with McDavid to ask him to play defense first and sacrifice some offense is a bit funny to me..
Why ask the best player in the game to change his style? I am 100% certain Glen Sather never asked Wayne to stop scoring.. |

meh, those were just some examples.. Outside of Game 2, Mike Smith didn't have a good series |

I’d have to watch the games in 6 but I don’t think those were weak goals last night.
2 good teams going at it IMO
Pretty good teams unless we’re back to “the North Division sucked” is why the Leafs did so well. |

I can see that happening in the off-season..
Kenny Holland: "See, Connor our goaltending and team defense suck, so we're gonna need you to stop scoring and play defense first because we can't figure out why we suck" |

I never thought that the North division sucked, but Mike Smith's rebound control and some 'soft goals' were the difference..
The Kyle Connor goal was almost identical to the Nick Suzuki goal.. Both, were decent shots, but maybe could have been stopped.
I'm not complaining about Campbell. 4 goals against in 3 games is fantastic. |

The Yzerman learning to play defense to become a "winner" is a myth. He never won a Cup without Lidstrom. Lidstrom won without him. |

it's all over the Twitterverse. Which is just plain silly to me..
Those Red Wings teams of the '90s were deep teams with a lot of talent and a lot of grinders that performed really well in the playoffs, and a hall of fame coach.. |

He became better defensively when his team was loaded with talent.
