We'll never know, but I see nothing that suggests it. In fact, it looks the opposite to me, he *tried" to not hit him but literally had no time.

I think I find it annoying that the Habs CLEARLY came into the series wanting to goon it up as far as possible and hope to drag the game into the mud and eke out a win on goaltending and a lucky break here and there.

Hey, if your team is poopty, I guess that's your only option... just don't whine and cry about it when the bullpoop is called. (not you specifically, obviously)

- Aetherial

Well it's the way the team has been built. Big, slow defensemen except for Petry and Romanov (who, for some reason, has yet to play) that will bully teams away from Price... at least that's the idea.

I thought the reffing in game 3 was the best so far in the series. Not saying there weren't missed calls, there were plenty, but they also called alot of stuff that were penalties or went over the line like Chiarot jumping Hyman or Toffoli hitting Brodie for no reason.

Now I'm still waiting for Hyman to get called for the 2103812390812 tripping he does every game but as I said, other stuff was missed too so I guess it evens out.

But.

Some GM's are gonna GM.
I could see a desperate GM overpaying.

It DOES sound like you're describing Ken Holland . . .

Yeah don't see how Lehkonen initiated the contact.

Both players going for the puck colliding, Lehkonen got the worst of it.

- Scabeh

My Leafs fan view is that Lehkonen skates into him (but I see what you are saying, Sandin is moving also).

Either Lehkonen didn't see him, but more likely, it looks like he was trying to reach back and knock the puck past Sandin, which would give him a breakaway...

I just find it (frank)ing ridiculous that some Habs fans complained about that hit but don't see what the Habs are obviously trying to do, all series.

Holland is their GM, so we're in agreement.

Is there anyone denying that?

Leafs are hoping to win the cup.

Habs are hoping Price will somehow stop every shot and carry them as far as possible.

Expectations aren't the same.

- Scabeh

oh, there were definitely some Habs fans at the beginning of the year claiming their depth could carry them deep.

Having lots of depth isn't the same thing, when you only have depth. Depth is a great thing, when you have good players at the top of the lineup as well.

Edmonton needs a goalie. Calgary just blew their money on Markstrom, so they better hope he pays off. Minnesota could turn a piece of toast into a .920 goalie, so they probably don't need to goalie hunt.

The real question is what Andersen thinks he's worth vs. what the market is willing to pay for his performance the last 2 years. I suspect he's not going to be pleased with the market's assessment of his game.

I think he goes to the Canes if they don’t make some noise this year.

I hate the league in general with regards to playoff refereeing.

Chiarot and Weber getting passes to mug our best player. It is not like this doesn't happen all throughout the playoffs, but WTF is that? It isn't bodychecking, or taking the body or close checking or hard work. It is doing something against the rules in the hopes that you can get the other guy off the ice, or even better, injure him.

OV is an FA this year no?
There is some old quote floating around where he was asked about playing in Montreal, I believe by a Montreal reporter while he was in Montreal for a game and he did say that it would be fun to play in Montreal.

So there's that for Habs fans.

I'm going to say, based on how much I like how they're constructed, that Waddell is too smart to go for Andersen. I think the trajectory for Andersen is poor based on his past 2 years. He's a desperation move - a roll of the dice - not a move you make if you're trying to build on a solid core.

Well since we don't have a Matthews to carry us, the idea of betting on depth isn't a bad concept.

But for it to work, said depth must (frank)ING SCORE.

Too old for you guys.

You guys need to build for the next generation of your team, beyond Weber/Price/Gallagher

I’m not sure money is going to be the issue. I think Andersen needs to sign a one year, show me deal. If they can make the money work that could possibly be back with the Leafs but I’m not sure if that’s possible.

Devils had some underrated players for sure... but they were not a team led by superstar. Hurricanes also.

Yes, very likely.
all their 3 goalies (Mrazek, Reimer and Nedeljkovic) need a new contract after this season.
I think independently of how they do in playoffs, they might want a proven starter to form a tandem with Nedeljkovic.
Freddie likely to become the backup to Nedeljkovic though..

btw Leafs and Edmonton both might be looking at Driedger as a backup goalie add in the off-season.

I don’t agree so much on Andersen being that poor. So we’ll just disagree and move on. A change of scenery wouldn’t hurt him either.
