Well they have depth.
they have price
They have decent D.
Just missing a high end center?
Eichel?

- Fakepartofme

Rumors are Bergevin will be in the talks for Eichel.

It's bound to be very costly though, despite the 10M pricetag.

I’m not sure money is going to be the issue. I think Andersen needs to sign a one year, show me deal. If they can make the money work that could possibly be back with the Leafs but I’m not sure if that’s possible.

I dunno CC, unless Campbell collapses, I think the net is his next season, maybe a cheap vet for backup. They are always out there.

Shots/60 so far

Engvall 21
Matthews 15

Engvall minutes 9, Matthews 23. Engvall shot - like a baby giraffe on skates.

Would be a great fit, but the Habs would have to gut their young core to get him, he has a big price tag and I think the jury is still out on that attitude.

Romanov, Suzuki and then at least one other piece.

oh, there were definitely some Habs fans at the beginning of the year claiming their depth could carry them deep.

Having lots of depth isn't the same thing, when you only have depth. Depth is a great thing, when you have good players at the top of the lineup as well.

The series is only 2-1, I'm not writing anything off yet. The Habs have changed their construction to be more physical with the additions of Edmundson and Anderson. This compliments Weber, Armia and Chiarot - so they have the ability to grind a team and intimidate some opponents. They don't have a lot of scoring, but they do have two really good agitators in Gallagher and Perry - which theoretically helps draw penalties. It's not a cup winning lineup, but it's a lineup that can surprise teams in the playoffs the same way the Jets just surprised the Oilers (granted the Jets do have some really good offensive players). If the Leafs win tonight I'll feel much better, but I still think the Habs team is technically constructed to be a playoff threat. I don't think they're coached to be one.

I don't think Dom Ducharme will be back as head coach next year.

Perhaps back to his assitant job.... but everything points to Bouchard getting the nod.

I don’t agree so much on Andersen being that poor. So we’ll just disagree and move on. A change of scenery wouldn’t hurt him either.
- Garnie

Moving out of the Toronto media fishbowl might be what he needs. He was certainly great his first 3 years here. It would be surprising for age to be a factor this early in his career, so he's really just missing his mojo. I won't argue that a team like Carolina could be just what he needs to find it.

he should do good.
people being down on him forgot that Leafs had basically offered him the head coach job just before Babcock decided to take the position.

Devils had some underrated players for sure... but they were not a team led by superstar. Hurricanes also.
- Aetherial

The Devils that won cups had quite a few elite/superstar players. Brodeur, Elias, Sykora, Niedermayer, Rafalski, Scott Stevens, Arnott, Nieuwendyk, Gionta, pre-Habs Gomez... Those teams had piles of talent.

The Canes are probably the weakest team in decades to win the cup, but even they had some elite talent (at the time..... Staal was at the top of his game, so was Stillman). Whitney, Rod the Bod, Williams.

But yeah, they were not a stacked team. They caught Cam Ward on a hot streak.

Linus Ullmark is the guy I would target. Doubt he would demand a significant raise and I think he's a guy who could play a 1a/1b role with Jack.

Like I say, I don’t know that they can make the money work but it’s a big jump from 22 to 55 or more games. They need somebody more than a cheap backup. Not saying Freddie but it’s gotta be more than Big Save Dave. There are guys who can come in as a 1b
