Rumors are Bergevin will be in the talks for Eichel.

It's bound to be very costly though, despite the 10M pricetag.

- Scabeh

The price on Eichel is what you pay for elite talent, so I don't think that's a factor in any deal.

I would imagine that you're talking a 1st or two, and Caulfield or Romanov and another prospect like a Guhle or a Poehling, depending on which NHL-ready prospect is moved.

The Devils that won cups had quite a few elite/superstar players. Brodeur, Elias, Sykora, Niedermayer, Rafalski, Scott Stevens, Arnott, Nieuwendyk, Gionta, pre-Habs Gomez... Those teams had piles of talent.

The Canes are probably the weakest team in decades to win the cup, but even they had some elite talent (at the time..... Staal was at the top of his game, so was Stillman). Whitney, Rod the Bod, Williams.

But yeah, they were not a stacked team. They caught Cam Ward on a hot streak.

- prock

And they took Saku's eye out to come back and beat the Habs.

Like I say, I don’t know that they can make the money work but it’s a big jump from 22 to 55 or more games. They need somebody more than a cheap backup. Not saying Freddie but it’s gotta be more than Big Save Dave. There are guys who can come in as a 1b
- Canada Cup

Yeah there are usually a few options out there. Was not impressed by Rittich in the small sample size. Be nice if it looked like we had a good young goalie in the system ready to make the jump.

Leafs need the classic "older guy, here to support the young goalie, teach him how to relax, but not threaten to take away his starting job" backup goalie.

Luckily, you can get those guys for cheap every year.

ECHL is bound for LA or the Rags. Book it.

From everything I've read they have the prospect capital to get it done. They also have higher first round pick positioning, too.

Accidental high stick in Saku's eye.

Habs were in complete control until that moment.

Matthews is leading the playoffs in takeaways, and doesn't have any giveaways yet. He's third among Leaf forwards in hits. I've loved how well rounded his game has been. I'm not taking away from Nylander and Campbell at all - but I would be mentioning AM34 in any Leaf conversation. He's agitating, he's controlling the play, he's defensively sound, he's hitting . . . going into the playoffs I didn't think he had ANY of that in his game at a consistent level, and I've been very impressed.

AM is always good..he suffers from Great player is always great so it gets ignored when other players step up and are noticeable

I'd probably be pretty risk adverse if I was an NHL GM, so there's no way I'm trading the farm for a guy who says he needs newfangled spinal surgery that inserts an artificial disk (or something wacky like that - I'm not a doctor).

I hope so.

Rags is my guess: imagine ECHL playing w/ Panarin on his wing? The Rags are filled to the brim with offensive talent.

Just can't picture him wanting to go to a club that would have to give up a lot of significant young pieces that are destined be core players (Suzuki, Mole, Romanov, et al.) to land him.

I think ECHL wants to be "the guy" and the Rags provide one of hockey's brightest spotlights and are much closer to being a contender than the Habs.

Kinda like the Leafs and Berard, except the Leafs were a complete mess, and Berard had no idea how to play defence.

That would have been a pretty bad loss for the Habs back then. It's the loss of talent, the captain, the disruption to the lines, and the psychological impact of a serious injury that all impacts the team.

What can the habs do to even make the playoffs next year/ That roster is really bad and they are stuck with it.

Josh Anderson=David Clarkson

- RogerRoeper

You mean your dislike of the players? Surely you can't seriously compare lead hands Clarkson to one of the more effective power forwards in the league? Anderson can skate well and unlike Clarkson not on his ankles.

with the Leafs getting a goalie from CBJ and signing of the KHL (?) goalie, Leafs may need to sign one to be exposed (Hutchinson)

Saku in his prime didn't get the respect he deserved. Even in Montreal by Habs fans.

Guy was a fighter and so quick on his skates.

Too bad he was never surrounded by good enough players.
