Mtl stinks besides Price its a weak bad team It is a embarresement to see such a team in the playoffs. They are so bad and really have no business being in the playoffs. - spazzbot

Saku in his prime didn't get the respect he deserved. Even in Montreal by Habs fans.
Guy was a fighter and so quick on his skates.
Too bad he was never surrounded by good enough players. - Scabeh
As a Habs fan you'll have seen a lot more of Saku than I ever did - but I never got the love. To me, he was a good player, but not great. He was never a PPG guy that I recall. I always felt that the problem was that if he WAS your best guy that was the problem - they had like Rucinsky and Petrov and . . . I don't know, Zednick . . . who I think were their better players. That's not a good supporting cast at all. I think it made Saku look better. |

Well you're partly right.
He was never a top 10 player in the league or anything close to that.
But you could not find a harder worker and he kept making the guys around him so much better. Add to that the fight against cancer, the major knee injury at the beginning of his career and his implication in the community (raised enough money so Montreal could get his first PET/CT scan back in the day).
So yeah, the problem was he couldn't be "the guy" all alone. But he was still god damn amazing in my book.

He’s better then Hyman and another player I won’t name to save myself a couple hours of being hounded. - Garnie

I think they are diffrent players who bring something different to the table.
I could see a team or people liking one or the other better depending on what they feel they need.

Leafs dominated last night. Habs can't score or get the puck. - RogerRoeper
No they didn't. They played a decent game but allowed the Habs to dictate the play in the 3rd period. Need more efforts like game 2. |

I don't think so, I prefer Hyman, the only caveat is Foligno is much better fighter - which is not the worst thing for the Leafs. They absolutely need to have a couple of good tough players that don't allow teams to blatantly take liberties with Matthews and Marner - as Weber did last night. Was surprised that Siimmonds didn't respond.

A follow-up on this, three games into the series...
Rush Chances = 17-15 MTL
Cycle Chances = 37-11 TOR Astonished face
The difference creating offence in-zone is almost comical. Toronto = very good. Montreal throws everything at the net. Hot potato. Won't be surprised if TOR wins in 5.

If they were the same age it would be a much harder decision; at 27 Foligno scored 31 - which is about what Zach prorated to last year. Hyman's a puck hound, but Foligno is defensively sound, tough, and hits.
At their age disparity, no, I wouldn't keep Foligno over Hyman. |

I find it weird that we're up in the series despite being slightly outgoalied, while also having fantastic goaltending. Campbell has silently been really good, but maybe overshadowed by Price making this series appear a bit closer than it is. And if we make it past Price, Soup's next battle is Hellebuyck. Poor bastard. |

Agree with this, Anderson can bulldoze over a bunch of players to create space, Hyman while physical not the same. He digs out pucks and draws attention, freeing up space.

Let's say the Leafs get by Montreal, and then Winnipeg - as things stand, they could then face Tampa and Vasilevskiy. It's a hell of a road. |

I really hope the Leafs can somehow keep both.. Which likely means Andersen is gone and maybe Dermott as well.. Plus, I don't think the Leafs will re-sign Simmonds.. If they do, it won't be for $1.5M again |

This is the playoffs and it's what they signed up for, but hot damn, we really are gonna have to battle through the best goalies in the league. If we make it anywhere near the finals, Campbell will definitely be the unsung hero. |

Its the playoffs, you have to expect excellent goaltending. The stick save by Price last night on Spezza was easily one of the best saves this year that I've seen. But in fairness it had a significant element of luck. Super high skill yes! Super fortunate - also yes. Campbell has allowed 4 goals in 3 games, hard to say Leafs have been outgoalied IMO.

I don't think the Leafs have been outgoalied either..Price and Campbell have been pretty much equal..
Plus, the Leafs did pretty well against Hellebuyck this year.. If the Leafs get past the Habs, it should be another physical series against the Jets, but the Leafs can get to Hellebuyck |

I agree with the excellent goaltening part, but can you name a team this year who has a harder goaltending road than Toronto? Price, Hellebuyck, then potentially Vasi. Thats insane.
I think Price has made more high danger saves and bailed out Montreal a lot. Campbell's work load has looked much easier, although I have no idea if the stats back me up on that. |

They haven't been outgoalied.
Campbell is doing as good as you can expect him to.
It's not his fault Price faces way more high danger chances and has to make ridiculous saves and he doesn't. Can't blame him for having it "easier".

The Leafs are 6-4 this season vs the Jets.
So here's hoping they get past the Habs and Jets. |
