its not really a synonym, but it really doesnt matter either.
The more picks you have, the more likely (probable) you are to get an NHL player. The less you have, the less likely. The odds of a player playing are relative to the players development, junior path, etc etc etc, rather than where he was selected, as seen with so many NHL players picked outside the first round that actually play more than 100 games in the NHL.
either way, at the end of the day, both high picks (quality) and number of picks (quantity) matter. - Codes1087
Having high value (round) picks > lower value (round) picks
Having more picks > less picks
Not throwing away draft picks during a rebuild > throwing away draft picks during a rebuild |

Linden Vey 138 games 44 points. Roland Mckeown 10 games 3 points. The Canucks would be SO MUCH further ahead. |

No, a single pick is way higher than that. Almost 3%
Don't ask me, I sent the question to the bro-in-law who knows a major math nerd in Edmonton.
.0235% is the answer he sent me for finding a 2nd gem in the same round after 3 players have been found already.

There was no argument there. I was stating that the Canucks would have been much further ahead keeping that draft pick instead of throwing it away, then provided an example to show how much further ahead. |

Unless that isn't who the draft guru JB was going to take. Brandon Montour, Ryan Donato, Christian Dvorak all taken within the next 8 picks (not even going to go with Braden Point in the next round ) |

whos to say the Canucks picked Roland, no two scouting departments have the same list. Brandon Montour, Ryan Donato, Christian Dvorak, Warren Foegle were all less than 16 picks behind.
Needless to say, variables aside, a rebuilding team shouldn't take shortcuts, and draft picks matter. The more draft picks you have, the better. |

in this thread you'll learn: JB needs more time because he drafted a great core. also, draft picks don't matter.

Canucks had too many draft picks which confused Jim and his staff. They weren't sure where all these kids would play, there aren't enough leagues. |

Vey & Clendenning, two players Super Scout JB said could come in an help us now.
This is why JB should not be making trades. He should stick with waiver scraps because most of them are equivalent in talent anyway. |

The odds of winning the stanley cup for x team are 1/6, which is quite literally a probability. I know what distinction is but im guessing if i google odds the words probability and likelyhood will be there. Anywho, i agree more picks equals higher probability... or better odds |
