Random vocabulary builder type question. Does Skjei have the least phonetic name in the NHL? Borowiecki a possible runner up? |

Even if Johnson waives his NMC...they have Makar, Girard, Toews and Graves. So it's likely that Colorado opts for an 8-1 scheme. They protect these 4 guys, maybe 5 if Johnson refuses to waive. Then MacKinnon and Rantanen and Kadri. Landeskog is UFA. So they expose Burakovsky, Donskoi, Nichuskin. I'd rather lose a middle 6 forward and preserve the great group of d-men. So I doubt Colorado trades a d-man for cheap. - Kooleus
Yeah I think that's a fair take. |

Current NHLers maybe. All-time, hard to top Stan Neckar. (NETS-cash.) Definitely needed some diacritical marks on that jersey.

Nice. Yeah, remember the debate between Tomas and Tomash for Tatar and Jurco? I think they just alternated on purpose |

I think a lot depends on whether the player himself cares enough about an authentic pronunciation.
Examples: the Croatian pronunciation of "Sakic" is something like "Shah-keetch," I think. And the common North American pronunciation of Teemu Selanne (and a lot of Finnish players to be honest) is badly butchered. There are lots more.
Some guys just roll with Anglicized pronunciations and others care more about traditional pronunciations. It would help if we weren't so allergic to diacritical marks in English. |

Fedorov was commonly pronounced Fed-Ur-Off.
Actual pronunciation should be Fee-Yo-Dur-Off.
I'm sure he didn't care. |

GR needs the Swedish 5 this season.
Eklund - Berggren - Raymond
Johansson - Berglund - Feds91Stammer
Man I would love to see this next year.. my only hope is after the year berggren had maybe he makes the jump to the big team but the adjustment to North America isn’t always as easy as it seems. |

Hopefully the circumstances had more to do with things (weird Covid season) but there’s not exactly a track record of successful NHL players that were in the SHL in DY+3 |

Murray is expensive and can not stay healthy, Staal is aging, maybe a one year 1 mil deal but nothing more. The guy you should target is Vince Dunn, he is young and has room to grow. Stay clear of Gustafsson who is arguably the worst dman in the nhl. I like what Yzerman is doing, he clearly won the Vrana deal in a landslide imo and has Seider coming in next year as well. The future is going to fun. |

Well, Zetterberg. Also kinda sorta Franzen, who made the NHL in "DY+2" but was also drafted as a 24-year-old. (Berggren's gonna be 21 soon.)
There are also lots of examples of guys who were still primarily AHLers in DY+3 and became NHL regulars.
I highly doubt Berggren will ever be a great player but I don't think "decent third-line winger" is crazy to hope for. |

You’re the second advocate for Dunn, and I think it’s a fantastic pick. Very nicely laid out. Thanks for dropping in with that |

I really do like Berggren. Yeah, he could be a 3rd line guy but having that position done right is really important. I do think he was going to get a North American shot if the season were normal. The guys we sent to the SHL were going to be there til their seasons ended. The best thing about these kids is understanding the expectation to work. I think Grand Rapids will be a lot of fun to watch with all the kids coming over. I don’t know if they still do dollar beer night, but that’s a night I avoid. I’ve seen too many people trying to juggle multiple beers walk into each other. The floor feels like fly paper those nights!! (I do love dollar hot dog night though). If it’s a good enough showing, i know there’s a couple guys out there, we could look at a mini hockey buzz gathering for a game if there’s interest. Tickets are reasonable. I love the pre game show. Good stuff |

Yeah those guys are unicorns but I mean more specifically modern day scouting world if you will. I also believe Berggren can become a 3C but I more or less was saying pump the brakes because he hasn’t even played in NA yet. |

They should have Campbell’s do a limited edition “ABC soup” with all the proper letters and markings for their team names. |

Okay all, I have prepared three posts for tonight’s eliminations. Which (if any) of Florida, Minnesota and Pittsburgh do you think will be packing it up? Just curious to see where you’re all at |

I expect all 3 to be eliminated tonight.
Tampa and Vegas dominate like the contenders they are. Pittsburgh can’t wash off the stink that was the game 5 game winning goal. |

Wholly on-board with Fed's assessment. 3 gone tonight. As the SCPO advances, I'm thinking you'll see some pretty intense debate on who we should jump on.....This is gonna get REALLY good, Jeremy!!!!!
