I don't think it was intentionally homophobic, I think it was just weird.

The time has come to cancel Ron Maclean...Clearly he is homophobic and should not be allowed on TV.

if campbell would lose 3 in a row, he would be done for next season as well...

i would play campbell game 5.
70% chance he wins that.
if he wins, he'll get the start in game 1 round 2.

however, if he loses, you go with andersen for game 6 - i don't like leafs hypothetical chances for that game, but it's a good opportunity for freddy to win his teammates confidence back, and to get both of these guys ready.
i have never been a big freddy fan, but some of you guys are acting as if andersen is toskala...

Andersen topped out at .919 on both Anaheim and Toronto. He's still yet to hit 920 ever. Campbell has twice now. And that was Andersen at his peak. He's lost a step
- RogerRoeper

Give it a rest, Andersen has played almost as many games in 1 year as Jack has in 7. You might want to pull the reigns before jacking off all over us.

Oh right, my bad. 🤦🏻

I guess when he went .928 1 season ( if you want to call 20 games and 31 games a season ) to .900 he should have just retired as obviously he was done.

Guessing the Leafs roll 5 lines?

Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Foligno - Tavares - Simmonds
Galchenyuk - Kerfoot- Nylander
Nash - Engvall - Mikheyev
Thornton - Brooks - Spezza

Oh great, now we have a Garnie wife, like having Freddy wives isn't bad enough.
- bobbyisno1

You sound peanut butter and jealous, I promise to give you shout outs and whisper sweet nothings in your ear if you start talking about Freddie in a positive way.

First Freddy Wives Club - we have cookies and don't discriminate against da' gingers!

Campbell for the rest of the way to the cup, I'm A-OK with that.

Go Leafs Go

His apology sickens me.

Someone completely misunderstands something gets offended and suddenly Ron needs help to change his ways and be more woke.

Here is an idea, how about the people who are so quick to cancel take a moment to try to understand the situation.

"Tarp Off": https://www.urbandictiona...efine.php?term=tarp%20off

In the sports world, you can be positive for steroids, positive for drugs, or you could just be hammered. It's stretch in the term to imply someone is positive for being drunk, but it's a significantly larger stretch to assume that he was making an AIDS reference given his history.

Someone is just looking to turn nothing into something. If the mob isn't cancelling somebody, what the Hell are mobs even for?

seems they are chasing singling out the latest version of "you people"

what I found so ridiculous was getting rid of Cherry for that, he had done and said far far worse previously.

this isn't cancel culture... its "idiot who has too much time on their hands culture"

it was (by my opinion) long past Cherry's best before date but this overblown reaction about literally every miniscule misuse of terminology, or perhaps not using the expression of the "latest week" is quite frankly boring.

that said, I'm all for getting rid of MacLean... his time has past as well. I find him boring personally, and there's entirely too much "societal discussion" on a sports program.

The fact that Ron 'political correctness' MacLean was almost canceled should really be a sign this nonsense has gone way way way way too far..

Thornton? Or Hyman?
- PatC80

Thorton when he had that gift 10 feet in front of the net - I think game before last maybe.

All alone and took a slapshot that went high/wide.

Was comical.

Thornton basically lost his balance and fell into a perfectly placed pass on the goal he scored last game

For Cherry it was the last straw - an accumulation of idiotic ramblings.
They gave him a chance to apologize and he refused.

I'm well aware. Changes nothing... that reaction for his "transgression" was overblown... he should have been gone long before that.

Same nonsense with RonM now.

His re-direct that went in for a goal? Yeah, saw that.

I meant his earlier attempt (might have been previous game) where he was 10 feet from the net, a rebound landed in front of him, and he sent it up into the glass. No idea how a professional can miss the net from that distance. It's not like it rang the crossbar. He missed by a LOT.
