Paul Coffey never gets enough love in that list.
- Monkeypunk

Dumb (frank) played for forever with Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, Francis, Jagr, Yzerman.

When you spend most of your career playing with the top 5 point producers in the history of the game you should probably rack up a lot of points.

giving up size in Kulak and Romanov for a smaller Gustafsson..

It should help the offense. Won't make up for the loss of Jake Evans though, no one on the Habs can fill that void

- PatC80

Glad we agree on that front.

Evans was the key in this whole thing.

Since we're talking defensemen...does anybody else think it is absolutely insane that Ray Bourque has the most shots on goal in NHL history?
- AdamFrench

Never thought about it.

I didn't know that. Makes sense. He had a very good shot, played over 20 years and literally never left the ice.
- gergeswillems

I was doing sports trivia one night and that was a question, I picked Jagr.

They should absolutely give Romanov a taste of the post-season. It's absurd that this kid, who figures to be an important part of the future core, hasn't been give some minutes.
- mjones242

I agree, I think Romanov deserved a chance...
Gustafsson only played 5 games for the Habs and averaged just over 13 minutes per game..

Bourque finished 2nd in Norris voting 6x.

6x!!!

And he was absolutely robbed on a couple of those.

Scotty Niedermayer was great for sure. I still have nightmares of him going end to end on Detroit in the 1995 SCF.
- gergeswillems

He had the advantage of great partners - Stevens and Pronger

Considering he has the best aim the game has ever seen... no, I don't think it's crazy.

I think so too, there is no way the Leafs could have handled losing someone like Jake Evans

Gustafsson is horrible defensively. Even if he'd help our pp (and his short stint at the end of the year showed nothing of the sort), it's insane sitting Romanov.

Kid is good enough to play 54 games this year but is now behind plugs like Merrill, Gustafsson and Kulak?

Gtfo of here Ducharme.

I really don't get it. Merrill Streep won't even be with the Habs next season. Play the kid.

I can't believe I'm saying this to a Habs fan... But.... you're right...

Romanov should have played in this series.
Kotkaniemi has been one of your better forwards this series and even he was benched for Game 1

Great Left winger. Even when Detroit had him he was elite.

Two names appear in the list of most points in a season among defenders. Coffey and Orr - both 5 times. Coffey had 48 goals in a season, and in that same season scored 9 Short-handed goals.

He was certainly not the best defender, but frankly we can't all be Randy Carlyle, who is still probably the least deserving Norris winner I know of!

Not only are the habs losing, which is fine because they were the obvious underdogs in that series, but they're losing without giving their young players the much needed experience in the playoffs.

They're also misusing them so goddamn badly by giving them no stability with linemates all year.

Anyway, there will be a time to discuss this after everyone gets fired in the summer but holy crap this is disappointing.

After this season though, right? Like after the Leafs win the Cup this year? If so, I'll be ok if he doesn't touch the Cup again after this year

Good thing Crawford didn't use Gretzky in 98 Nagano Olympics against Hasek. What would he know about scoring goals?
