Bogo is getting better with each game, same with Hyman after injuries. Limit mistakes...seems simple enough. Brooks is a seamless insertion at any point as well, which is a nice option. - Woderwick
Brooks is a solid player. Is a pleasant surprise. |

Revenues are up for the NHL, but still way behind the other sports, They use to be closer to them in popularity - RogerRoeper
At one point, long ago I believe the NHL was ahead of the NBA.
Strikes and lockouts killed that. |

So, because their series is not decided, they both have a low chance of winning the cup, but the Leafs, who had the second weakest first round matchup are favoured.
Yeah, that's real useful. - Aetherial
It looks at the difficulty of their schedule. One of Fla or TBL will have to play Carolina. Their odds are lowered as a result. Colorado still has to play Vegas. Their odds are lowered. The odds makers somehow don’t put the Jets in the same category as Carolina or Vegas. Weird |

Was talking about the Oilers with my TSN friend yesterday.
One of the bright spots for them is that they have some high-end talent, the tough stuff to find. Their depth is clearly the problem. With the flat cap still in place, they should be able to revamp their depth. Supply and demand favors the few teams with some cap room.
A team like Montreal may have a tougher time. Getting the top-end talent is the hard part. Provided this Eichel neck surgery thing is not really the problem, they need to take a shot at Eichel if at all possible. - Aetherial
No doubt, Habs are (frank)ed, Capped-out with no top-tier talent. And they aren't exactly a young up and coming team.
Yes, Oilers have that elite talent, but so many terrible mistakes were made. They could have been so much better. They needed to do what Kyle Dubas did. Don't screw with the core and don't overpay bottom 6 talent.

I also think it is easier for the population base in the US to play basketball. That has to be a factor.
Bettman has managed to grow the NHL in the U.S., which is quite a feat. |

Just saying in terms of joke factor, the NHL has some joke elements, but the NBA is pure joke. - Zezel
The NHL has so many joke elements...so many.
Outside of the Players running the league and tampering, the NBA is decent.
They've got one of the more exciting FA off seasons of any league. |

Yeah, refereeing doesnt change in the playoffs.
crap doesnt happen after every whistle.
The league doesn't endorse this.
This bullpoop happens in every other sport. I mean look at baseball, fielders are constantly tripping baserunners are ragdolling the stars of the other team. In basketball, you can barely score with everyone bodychecking the shooter and goaltending on every play. The games would be in the triple digits in football because holding is allowed on every play. The problem is that all the quarterbacks are injured from blows to the head... - Aetherial
I agree that refereeing changes in the playoffs and over the course of the game. I don’t believe that the League is trying to even out the playoffs

WTF. At some point, the Leafs are going to have to get through 2 of the best of those teams also.
It is penalizing all the teams with tough matchups, someone has to win those matchups.
Carolina has a lower chance because they play Florida or Tampa and Tampa or Florida have a lower chance because they have to play Carolina maybe?
yeah, I'm just going to go ahead and file that mess in the garbage can. |

Hockey is an expensive sport. That's why so many of the players have douche names like Taylor, Tyler, Auston or Mitchell. |

Basketball is major intense in the playoffs. It feels like you are constantly on the edge of your seat at both ends of the court.
Maybe it is the lack of major championships in Toronto, but I have never been as stomach clenched as the Raptors championship run. |

The disturbing McDavid play was that knee on knee. - Aetherial
Agree, but by league standards it was a great defensive play. Same as when Weber was choking Matthews after the whistle. Weber was just making sure that Matthews wasn't going to get away with gooning it up. So Weber brave guy that he is, went after one of the Leafs tough guys. |

My daughter swears that the kids in her high school like basketball more than hockey - and it isn't even close. Probably 2-1 or 3-1.

Other than Colorado, I'm not too impressed with how many of the "Contenders" look. Tampa and Colorado I can say are better than the Leafs. Anyone else? Not really. Vegas, Islanders, Florida, Carolina, very flawed teams Leafs can beat
