It's possible that he has lost a step, I mean it's hard to say really... The dude was injured a lot the past few years and maybe that's taken a toll on him?
Or maybe, he's better suited to play in a more wide open, less structured system? - PatC80
I think the more concerning thing is that the Leafs looked at where Andersen was allowing most of his goals (off the rush), and they made systematic and personnel changes specifically to try and address and reduce this (and successfully did), and while Andersen was good in February, he wasn't in January or March. How long was he playing through injury, nagging or otherwise, I couldn't say and it's potentially a factor.
I do know that the guy from 2 years ago isn't the guy we've seen since then. I think Freddy would do well with a team that had bigger D that cleared the front of the net. He seems to struggle at seeing around screens, and reacting to deflections. But honestly this year he was also slow post-to-post, quick to go down or overreact. He just wasn't himself. Bad mojo.
In a way it reminds me of Potvin. We all loved him, and when the Leafs gave up on him in favour of Cujo, I think the hit to his confidence did him in more than anything else. His entire game took a nosedive for 2-3 years until he found some confidence again in LA. |

unpossible.
roger has leafs at 99+% to in the SC apparently.
all of the other teams are 'very easy to defeat'.
personally, so far these 4 games I haven't been too impressed by the Leafs.
Price is great, apart from that, not 1 single Habs player have been playing up to his level (and it doesnt help that Weber, Gallagher are still playing injured).
their best player has been Kotkaniemi... - MaximusAurelius
Max logic:
When the Leafs suck - The Leafs suck
When the Habs suck - The Leafs suck
When the Leafs are good - The Leafs suck
When the Leafs post a 4-0 shutout - The Leafs suck

Agreed but those personnel changes are still serving us well. Jack played well but that was a pretty strong defensive game last night. |

I died through every playoff loss and every non playoff year. But to disregard what is going on in front of us doesn’t make sense. The Leafs are much, much better than the Habs. This is not like being underdogs against Boston or Washington or never getting going against CBJ.

Of course they have lower odds of winning the Cup if they have a harder time in getting to the semifinals. How is this controversial? You can make a case that both Florida and TBL are better than the Leafs but they both have better odds of losing in the first round. Those odds are lowered further because the winner plays Carolina.
In any case is that the odds look very different when there are four teams left.
You can argue about how they see specific matchups. Maybe Tampa should be a prohibitive favourite over Carolina but there’s logic to the system. - Canada Cup
OK.
So, if there was a playoffs including teams from the English Premier league, and the Championship league. The team coming out of the Championship league has a greater chance of winning because their league is weaker?
The chart falls apart at the end, when the Leafs somehow show up at the top?

Parade day. Bergevin calls for a challenge on Nylander’s goal which is upheld. All games are replayed and Montreal goes on to win Cup.

The Potvin angle is interesting to me, because maybe it's the same with Andersen, a confidence issue and not injury related or as some have said 'losing a step'..
I'm not in a position to say exactly what went wrong with Andersen, but I'm happy for what he did here as a Leaf. I just think his time here is over..
I wish him well, wherever he goes whether it's Edmonton or Detroit or Buffalo or Arizona or the KHL(I don't know) |

We'll see if the Leafs are really good when they play an actual team - starting with Wpg.
Habs are arguably the worst team making the playoffs this season (they had the lowest points total (59) of all playoff teams, and team with the worst goal differential to make the playoffs (-9). Seconds worst was STL with -1 , and they're out 4-0 series loss. All the other teams had much better point totals, and positive goal differentials.
Good to see the Leafs win a few playoff games and having a lead, and likely winning the series vs Habs.
However, the true test starts with playing Wpg. |

Unrealistic. Bergevin steps down after losing the series 4-1 and gives way for Valerie Plante to become the next Habs GM

exactly
If the Habs pop a couple early ones, those gonads are gonna get sucked right up into the Leafs lungs
I believe this Leafs team is different though.

If the chart showed the Leafs odds of getting to the final 4 as being the highest, I completely get it.
It is that part about suddenly the are cup favourites that is not justifiable. |
