Miroslav Satan
Underrated?
Overrated? - ImThatGuy
I wouldn't say he was "underrated", but he got more flack than he deserved. Many fans put Jason Pominville on a pedestal. Miro Satan could do everything Pominville could do and more.
probably 5 times the abuse vanek and reinhart got - homiedclown
Absolutely with no doubt my favorite player of all time
Close 2 nd would be Wendell Clark
The good old days when we could watch hnic on Saturday night and not hate the leafs

Back when you could only get 5 or 6 stations with the rabbit ears. And the Sabres were on Channel 2

I think people are writing Quinn off very early. He showed quite a few flashes of brilliance in the AHL, a higher level than he should have been playing at because of Covid...with a hernia. There's real talent there. - RhinoFan
I'm not writing him off completely, just there were better players available, namely a guy being talked about trading Eichel for. It also doesn't help that Peterka looks like the better of the two prospects just one COVID shortened season later. But that's the good for Buf. If redrafted (taking out team management falling in love with a player, like Buf did with Quinn) Peterka and Quinn prolly go in the teens with Peterka going before him in the lower and Quinn in the higher. Rossi would still go top 10. He's that good.
Now Quinn has upside to grow into a dominant player. It's been noted here plenty about him just starting to focus on hockey, so there's still hope that he becomes a good serviceable player. There were, and are, just better options out there when we picked. Look at Seth Jarvis and what he did. Quinn was a reach, that's why it's head scratching. Doesn't mean he can't be good tho.

Lot to this, but a couple things.
The DEL < AHL. Quinn was playing with a hernia the whole time. Both players produced at a very similar .5ppg pace, so saying Peterka has surpassed him, is a big reach IMO. I really like JJP too.
Can't argue Rossi and others weren't the obvious picks there and he's been surpassed by them. It's just inconsequential to me. Mgmt picking wrong doesn't degrade the value of the player.
Reinhart followed a similar pattern, not as good as some in his draft class, still a killer player. As you said, he could grow into a dominant forward, I don't think JJP projects as more than a middle 6er with some touch. Quinn could be one of the better scoring forwards we've had since Vanek. I might be sipping the Kool Aid on this one, but I really was excited about how he played in the AHL. Took 5 games to adjust and he was ppg thereafter I believer, if not very close.
In summation, you're right he wasn't the right pick. I just would argue he's our best prospect by a good margin.
