The DEL < AHL. Quinn was playing with a hernia the whole time. Both players produced at a very similar .5ppg pace, so saying Peterka has surpassed him, is a big reach IMO. I really like JJP too.
Can't argue Rossi and others weren't the obvious picks there and he's been surpassed by them. It's just inconsequential to me. Mgmt picking wrong doesn't degrade the value of the player.
Reinhart followed a similar pattern, not as good as some in his draft class, still a killer player. As you said, he could grow into a dominant forward, I don't think JJP projects as more than a middle 6er with some touch. Quinn could be one of the better scoring forwards we've had since Vanek. I might be sipping the Kool Aid on this one, but I really was excited about how he played in the AHL. Took 5 games to adjust and he was ppg thereafter I believer, if not very close.
In summation, you're right he wasn't the right pick. I just would argue he's our best prospect by a good margin. - RhinoFan
I hope he's not our best prospect come October 1st
Or something went horrible wrong

The comparison for Peterka to Quinn for me comes in the WJC. They both participated, Quinn had minimal impact, while Peterka was the second best player on his team and a stud in the tournament.
I'm not downgrading the player because of others being better prospects. He can be really good, but if he's the 30 best player from the draft (hyperbole to prove a point) at some point you are graded against your peers. Doesn't mean he's not a good player, but by comparison not great.
I don't think Quinn is on the same planet as far as skill as Sam. Using as a benchmark doesn't apply here, IMO.
In summary, I think JJP and Quinn are much closer than you do (which is fine) and Quinn isn't by far and away our top prospect.

I think people are writing Quinn off very early. He showed quite a few flashes of brilliance in the AHL, a higher level than he should have been playing at because of Covid...with a hernia. There's real talent there. - RhinoFan
Not writing him off.
Stafford is a pretty apt comparison based on skill and career projection.

Hank, have you tried reaching out to Kevyn Adams directly, asking him if he'd do an interview for one of your blogs? - RichardRoma
With all the President's and Stanley Cup Trophies, League and Conference Banners to their credit; maybe you should write a blog about just how great the various Front Offices have been over the past 50 seasons.

Could please explain how you arrived at this response, based on the question I asked Hank?

Perhaps due to the fact that the past 48 hours you’ve been doing this shtick insinuating that we as fans no absolutely nothing compared to professional GM’s and that we should accept everything they do and not ponder or shoot the breeze on a message board designed exactly for that purpose ?
