I am hoping for a management team and a scouting staff that we can put our trust into and is not incompetent to the extent that an individual like myself can actually sit on here for a few hours a day and talk about certain trade proposals and/or draft selections that I/we would have made that turned out better than the selections that people who are paid millions of dollars to actually make.

Yeah signed for only next year. Thanks but there's levels to this.

Lol I get flack on philly page for even mentioning coots in deal for eichel. Personally I see coots as average at best 1c but a top 5 2c. Just gauging what buf fans would be looking for in eichel trade. I think eichel if healthy with right player top 5 center and someone you trade for if available. Naturally most in Philly page not as high on eichel. God forbid offer up coots. Lmao

Trading for Couturier when hes hitting 30 soon plus a new contract just = bad news imo
- gerbe75pts

I have a feeling there's going to some part of any potential trade that isn't going to be ideal.

Just a hunch.

We want a teams TOP prospect. Not the 3rd best or 2nd best. DEffs a First and a roster player.

If Eichels neck is fine (which I assume it is or else we would be hearing a lot more on the situation) He's atleast a top 10 centre.

A team like Minnesota who gets to the playoffs almost every year but struggles when they are there could use an Eichel. He might be a teams missing piece just like ROR and St Louis. Except I want an actual return this time. Not garbage were going to discard of in a couple years.

Well to move a 10 mil contract your going to have to take some money back.. Just common sense.

If you had been the GM or coach when Reinhart and Eichel were brought in, would the atmosphere have been close to what Vegas, Tampa and Carolina have right now?

It hasn’t worked for Buffalo and Edmonton for the same reasons.

You are only as good as your weakest links.

Both franchises failed to surround their high end talent. Now Edmonton has been able to qualify for the playoffs because of McDavid and Leon going sicko mode but we’re stonewalled by a team with more depth and much better goaltending.

If the Sabres would have been able to field a competitive roster around Eichel the culture change would have happened.

The Bills culture change happened because they drafted Pro Bowler’s/All Pro’s at several positions on the roster and then traded half a draft class for an All Pro WR.

The Patriots are one of the most successful franchises of the century yet had one of the most toxic cultures out there yet it never got as much attention as it should have because they won games because they had talent.

Culture is a convenient nuance to throw out there because it’s easier to talk about “culture” then for Eichel to come out and say “Well my coach tried to mold us to a system that didn’t fit our strengths, our amateur scouting staff is useless, and our GM fielded a roster in which 80% of it is useless”.

Imo of course

they had their superstar, a couple of star pieces, a promising rookie and nothing else left from the two tank years....kinda hard to do that when you're starting with less than zero to surround them with

ccr green river, willy and the poor boys, cosmo's factory
pearl jam's first 3 cds
pink floyd (4) animals, wish you were here, wall, dark side
neil on the beach, after the goldrush, harvest

- homiedclown

great answers, knew you'd chime in...

dark side, wish and animals is an amazing triology...easy top-five, probable top-three...

love on the beach but everybody knows, gold rush and harvest definitely challenge...

as a huge boss fan (springsteen not you, 34, although i like your style,) born to run, darkness and the river land in the top-5...

The Sabres were flushed with picks and prospects.

We either drafted next to nothing with them or traded them for the likes of Fasching, Desluriers, Vesey (twice), Simmonds, e.t.c.

They had 6 years to surround Eichel.

This is why I don’t blame the premise of tanking, I blame the people that were entrusted with putting a capable hockey team on the ice.

Even with all the losing on purpose the Sabres had more than enough resources to push for a playoff spot the last two offseasons and failed to do so

Yeah I guess my proposal would require coots signing extension. Honestly cozens will be #1 in a few years.
Cozens
Coots
That’s a strong top 2 center combo.
Frost is a top prospect. Probably a mini Reinhardt
Sanheim a strong 3/4 dman might be able to pair with dahlin as dahlin will carry a pair.

Plus those players ready now and playing and already progressed. (Except frost due to a few injuries but is ready if healthy.
Plus the picks
Idk if buf gonna trade a eichel for straight up prospects and picks. Would the fan base accept that?

yup, but there was nothing around jack, ror, kane, and sam in 2015-16 and the following year...there was nothing in rochester either as those first two drafts featured prospects most of which weren't even signed...

just a horrible situation after they napalmed the hockey dept for one (two if you count sam) player
