I don't think you have to worry about these issues much longer. - Rinosaur

That's my hope as well. JR effed it up bad when he tried. My hope is that based on things we've heard Hex and Burke say to the media, they understand the strengths of this team and won't try to change the identity, but will try to add pieces that will balance and be able to fit in to the style of play.

My thought it would have to be both a coaching and player change for any of these issues to be resolved besides goaltending. Sully is gonna Sully for better or worse.
In all honesty I'd just like to see a different approach. The Pens are predictable and don't really have an identity. |

The Penguins win cups when they fire their coach mid-season, so if Sully is getting canned, they better wait until November or something |

I dont know if any of you guys follow the markets but some real shenanigans going on with AMC again.
Apparently a lot of retail guys are convinced they can squeeze the share price to $500k... reading how mental these guys all are on the message boards is scary.
Anyways, I picked up some puts at the double top toward the end of the day and close out half for a really nice profit. Then picked up some $29 calls expiring tomorrow just for entertainment value incase more of these crazies keep put their life savings on the ask. |

I dont get crypto so I'd never touch it. In fact I sold my Tesla stock after holding forever when they put bitcoin on the balance sheet.
Not sure if you were serious though. |

Defense is tougher for me to figure out. POJ in definitely. Agree on Letang and Dumoulin. Would not mind a 3rd pair RD physical/pk type like Guddy at a better price
What to do with Matheson and Marino who make 2nd pair money but don't play well together? Does one of them have to go? Or can you find a 2nd pair RD partner for Matheson, preferably with some size, and still afford Marino on 3rd pair with POJ? - Tojo.
I wouldn't try to guess who goes and who stays, too many moving parts. I see Hextall getting two defensemen in the off season. One is going to be a Godbranson type, absolutely. The other an Ian Cole, a solid take no prisoner with some fight in him.
After watching this team crash and burn three years running. I have come to the conclusion guys like Cole, Hainsey, Bonino, etc. ignored Sullivan and played a defense first game.
Another topic, if I were a goalie looking to cash in on a free agent deal (Rask) the last place I would go is a Mike Sullivan coached team. Way to high risk of an offence system.

I've thought about it some more and Petts is a puss...he needs to go....now really, in actual fact, if you lead the league in hits taken every season you're not actually a pvssy...but he plays soft and to my eyes takes a bit longer than the others to make decisions... Which is probably a factor in why he gets hit so much. He's not really bringing much offense, either, so for 4+ mill I dont think he should be there.
I'm not totally sold on Marino after this season. He didnt play like a 4.5 mill players most of the season. He is a righty though and I think he has more to offer than Petts.
I have nothing to base this one on, except maybe watching hockey for so long and seeing similar things, but Matheson feels like the kind of player that will be even better again in his second year with the new team...but...at that price, for what he brought this year, I dont think he's worth it. Really think he could of brought more offense than he did..and perhaps he will if around again next season.
I didnt realize that Friedman and Rudy were signed again next year to go along with PO Joe and Rikky who are also signed. Thats two LD and two RD signed for next season with a total combined cap hit of 3.48 mill hahah...I believe a duo of any of those guys could be totally fine for 3rd pair, which would result in a chunk of cap savings. Now its anyone's guess if they're all still there in September but you gotta think Friedman, a Hex boy, will be and PO Joe a decent prospect will be as well. |

So if any way at all possible get rid of both Petts and MM....and sign or trade for a rugged LD with a pulse for offense... |

Agreed on Petts. He actually reminds me of Maata a bit where he used to wait to the last second, put himself in a terrible spot and get killed.
Marino also, definitely should have been a bridge deal. The problem is that he needs someone positionally solid and stable with him... that ain't Matheson and you can't count on POJ to be ready for primetime if you want to build a cup winner. I think moving Marino for a RD who is top pair capable in the mold of a Parayko, Manson, Dumba, Petry is the ideal scenario.
I dont know why I'm being so agreeable with you but yeah, I'm 100% good rolling with POJ and Friedman on the bottom pair. But I will also say I'd love to get Ceci signed, something to the tune of 2-3 years, $2.5m seems fair for both parties. |

I actually think is is quite possible, but be careful what you wish for. You may want a rugged LD with an offensive pulse, but what you'll get is Nikita Zadorov.

Gonna be hard to make major change. A lot of teams won’t have cap space again and you don’t really have the assets to convince teams into taking salaries off your hands. |
