Yeah thats what I'm thinking and why I said "if possible". It will be hard to shed a bunch of guys, let alone one. - MattStrat
I think "shedding" is the wrong way of looking at it. IF the Pens look to make significant moves it doesn't necessarily mean just dumping players off the books. I think the only cap dump we'd see is whoever gets snatched in the draft.
The Pens will have to find other teams in similar situations looking to make a dynamics change.

I'd be fine with someone like Oleksiak coming back...how about Forbort?...even Edler or Martinez? - MattStrat
Oleksiak is the only one there worth while |

Agreed on Petts. He actually reminds me of Maata a bit where he used to wait to the last second, put himself in a terrible spot and get killed.
Marino also, definitely should have been a bridge deal. The problem is that he needs someone positionally solid and stable with him... that ain't Matheson and you can't count on POJ to be ready for primetime if you want to build a cup winner. I think moving Marino for a RD who is top pair capable in the mold of a Parayko, Manson, Dumba, Petry is the ideal scenario.
I dont know why I'm being so agreeable with you but yeah, I'm 100% good rolling with POJ and Friedman on the bottom pair. But I will also say I'd love to get Ceci signed, something to the tune of 2-3 years, $2.5m seems fair for both parties. - MacPatty
hahaha...why wouldn't ya?
I'm fine with Ceci walking...much like having nothing substantial to base the feeling regarding MM, I feel like Ceci wont be as good again next season haha

Game 6 should be enough reason not to keep Ceci. He can be solid regularly but when he’s bad it’s almost JJ bad. |

Somehow I feel like both teams lose that trade. |

I'd prefer Jarry gone because of the higher cap hit...and well....because of what happened the past week and a half....

Yeah but maybe we won't be able to find a taker for the $3.5M cap hit. What a horrible playoff performance |

Kassian just fits the long pants hockey is all. I dont want to trade Jake at all but I feel like he might get dangled to see whats out there.... |

Jake was outplayed this series but I feel like he'll come around and work on his game in the off season. His hockey IQ is too good to just give it away. |

I dont think Jake had that bad of a series, really. He just didnt produce enough, none of them did hahah, but the chances were there. Part of the reason they didnt all produce enough is because they faced a demigod in net haha. Jake had a few glaring moments of bad that will stick out for most. |

What concerns me about Jake is in his last 14 playoff games (last three years), he has three goals and three assists. |

I mean, he got outplayed physically. He was harrassed. What he does best is move around and find his spaces. |

I think he's always been outplayed physically though...Those first two series vs the Blue Jackets and Caps in 2017 he was obliterated hahah, they all were.

Crosby doesn’t command the same level of attention. The soft spots are harder to come by for Jake. |

Perhaps not as much...perhaps...still a top 10 producer this past season though.
I think Trotz and Isles know exactly how Jake and Sid play together by now, everyone does. One reason for mixing up the lines in that series...having said that, that lines underlying numbers were pretty damn good. They just didnt score much. Hardly any Penguin did. |

Only replying to this cuz of 2 people this year getting there panties in a knot (wont name names haha) when I posted what Ive heard from my buddy and as some have messaged me saying thanks for the info even though some people are mad about it.... But 3 days before the Carter trade happened I posted
"From what Ive heard Brown isnt there target there at all. Foligno is there choice for that role but sounds like the price is like 3-4 average pieces. They like Iafallo but sounds like he is going to be re signing with the Kings. Jeff Carter is apparently who they want. Not sure I love it but he can still skate and shoot so who knows maybe he turns it around. Havent heard anything other then Foligno and the 2 kings though" - pens4life-66
It's okay lil Ekund, you can name names.

Yeah, you saw the opposing goalie 5 on 5 stats the past 4 playoffs I posted, which is a factor in this but not the whole story. Another factor as you mentioned is not enough banger wingers around the net and in the case of Geno he keeps returning from injury around the playoffs and isnt the one you see before the injuries, this was the major case in 2019. He was f'n sloppy as F in that series, really bad. Also, yes they are getting older and this sh!t will naturally drop anyway. |

Sure there’s other factors but at a certain point it’s time to accept Sid and Geno are not elite producers especially when it comes to playoff hockey. |
