Murray was the biggest factor in them losing to the Habs in August. He let in very soft goals at very bad times in 2 of the 4 games in a series you only needed 3 games to move on....and he was a dumpster fire this season. Without looking Id say he was the most pulled during a game goalie this season. He hasn't been near the same since the injuries and losing his Dad. - MattStrat
Murray was basically average goaltending against Montreal. Wouldn’t really blame him when the offense puts up 8 goals in 4 games. Price just had his best 4 game stretch of the last 5 years. |

Man, that would of been awesome. I think he's kinda played his way into a keeper for the Wild now though. I had him on my $1200 championship winning Yahoo fantasy team that counted hits. He was a big factor in the win...when not injured.

Id agree but trading for one of the most injured goalies of the last decade for the Penguins of all teams seems like it could go south haha - MattStrat
He’s a top 3 goalie when healthy though. Right there with Vasy and Helly. It’s a risk reward thing at this point. |

I don't know that I 100% agree with that. I honestly think it's similar to what happened here. The Pens pretty much dominated territorial play, but kept to the perimeter. Murray definitely blew it, but not only did they keep to the perimeter the Pens looked flat the whole series. There was no real jump in their game.

Something like Jake/Marino for Foligno/Dumba could work? Minny adds for the expansion benefit they get. |

Yeah when you look at the 4 games his stats average out a bit but two of those 4 games he was terrible in that he let in really soft bad goals at very bad times. That's why when Jarry let in that sh!tty OT goal in game 1 vs the Isles over his shoulder I said that looked familiar haha. I can still see Petry scoring from the corner goal line...

Oh I get that but when the offense isn’t getting ugly enough to create their own luck you’re really hanging the goalie out to dry. |

Nah, they only looked flat in the last half of game 4. They carried the play in most of that series. All of my Habs loving friends and family agree with this. If it was Price and Murray swapped no way the Habs win that series. Which is the point of what I'm saying about Murray. |

There was a lot of shots, chances, mayhem , what have you around Sorokin in this series though. I'm not totally buying into the all parameter narrative this season though its been there in others.

M. Foligno
M. Tkachuk

Comtois
Kubalik
Ovechkin
Hintz - Feds91Stammer
Where is Jamie Benn on that list? Someone pop up one of those fancy charts. |

Yeah I wouldn’t say perimeter play is the issue. It’s more so the desire to only score on fancy passing plays. I’ve seen it kill stacked red wings teams. I’ve seen it kill stacked lightning teams. |

Yeah passing up shots and sh!t, there was definitely some of that going on. Zucker exhibited beautiful patience only to pass up shooting on a wide open upper cage in game 5 hahaha |

He’s washed up. His 5v5 scoring rates are horrible especially for his cap hit. |

Interesting name to see on that list for sure. I remember wanting him a couple years ago when they were rumored to want to dump him, but didn't think he'd become that much of a scorer.
That might not be exactly how I'd make a list of targets worthy of Jake, but it's interesting. |

I think Carter's name popped around this board before the trade happened. - j.boyd919
Only replying to this cuz of 2 people this year getting there panties in a knot (wont name names haha) when I posted what Ive heard from my buddy and as some have messaged me saying thanks for the info even though some people are mad about it.... But 3 days before the Carter trade happened I posted
"From what Ive heard Brown isnt there target there at all. Foligno is there choice for that role but sounds like the price is like 3-4 average pieces. They like Iafallo but sounds like he is going to be re signing with the Kings. Jeff Carter is apparently who they want. Not sure I love it but he can still skate and shoot so who knows maybe he turns it around. Havent heard anything other then Foligno and the 2 kings though"

There is a difference between going to the net to score and going to the net to disrupt the goalie. Pens have a lot of guys willing to do the former, not enough of the latter. |

This will be the Penguins lineup next season. All Hextall needs to do is make it work. |

I feel like you would usually be the guy saying don't trade for the career 12% shooter who had a 27.5% this year. |

I know Tojo, I know...but I saw people trying to disrupt Sorokin around the net as well...could there of been more, absolutely, but we weren't totally void of it. Sometimes goalies get an inexplicable aura around them and sh!t will just not go past them. Look at the Freddy tip headed 5 hole in OT in game 5...just crazy that was saved...Sorokin barely moved...or the very tip of the toe save outside the top of the blue paint getting a tiny piece of the Crosby tip.

I just think if you swapped the opposing teams goalie with the Pens goalie in the Pens last 4 playoff series loses they probably win those series, except maybe vs the Caps. The Pens as a whole team were truly gassed after back to back cup runs and getting through the first round...you could see them losing a lot of steam by game 4...plus look at the roster Trotz had at his disposal...they were destined for Lord Stanley that year. Actually, also vs the Isles in 2019 they were sloppy with 5 guys returning from injury and the Isles played very, very well as a unit...so probably the last two playoff series they would of won for sure hahah |

Yeah I definitely remember this post and I also think maybe Rino posted Carter as an option earlier in the season when we were looking at buy low candidates.
