Trotz said a goalie needs 100 NHL games or something along those lines before he can be a starter. Clearly Sorokin isn’t the best goalie in the NHL. He def has the chance to be a top 5 goalie. He is so fast post to post and seems to have excellent edge control and a lightning fast blocker.
As much as others are saying shooters figure him out. It goes both ways, this guy never played in North America no AHL games. He’s still adjusting to the NHL rinks. |

Sorokin is the best goalie in Islanders history. If Varlamov didn't start the two games it would have been a sweep. Jarry on the other hand was the worst display of goaltending I have ever seen in my hockey fandom. He cost the Penguins the series. - Hockeyislife

So Trotz thinks 100 games is needed? What do Burke and Hexy think?

Remember when Colorado was supposedly talking to LA about Jonathan Quick because Grubauer is a weak link. Although to be fair it was just an E3. |

Obviously Sorokin still has a bit more to prove before he can enter the discussion but he definitely is the most skilled goalie I’ve ever seen. Freak athlete. Moves post to post faster than any goalie maybe ever. I agree with the blocker/glove combo which is incredible. He is far and away the reason the Islanders beat the Penguins, who badly out skated and out chanced the Isles for most of the series. |

It’s gonna be a tough series either way. Boston is a better team than we are but we were much better than Carolina was two years ago and got swept. Hockey is a funny game |

Of course its not because if you watched any of this series vs the Pens you would know Sororkin was animal. Some people acting like was facing 20 shots a night - Vukota
Might have been one of the best goaltending performances I’ve ever seen in a playoff series |

This is obviously false. Dan Blackburn had the best blocker/glove combo. Actually, I can't remember anyone else ever trying to use one!!! |

Love seeing the reaction to Ilya outside of isles domain. This kid is a khl champion and playoff mvp. I've been waiting 6yrs for him to get over here. He is a special talent. Sky is the limit |
