I swear this board is full of people who say they want to go on a cup ride, but they can't handle an OT loss in round 1 when we up 3 games to 1.

Gonna be a lot of rich therapists around here if the leafs ever go deep. 🤷🏻‍♂️

haha you haven’t been following the laffs for that long then🤣

have you picked an alternate team yet so you can continue enjoying the playoffs?

I dont disagree. But so far our depth talent and Montreal inability so score (lack of talent) have been the reasons for the Leafs success.
The series is still in the Leafs favour. And if Matthews/Marner combine for 5 points next game a lot of people are going to have to eat their (frank)in hats. I'm not saying that will happen, but I'm saying shut the (frank) up until we lose in game 7.

- UsernameUnknown

Nah... until the Leafs win a series I'm not shutting the (frank) up. The pain is real and the doubt is palpable.

that’s because little b!tch marner is ice dancing at the blue line with the puck instead of getting it deep so he can go (frank) up one of the dmen 🤦🏿‍♂️
- Skalapy

Except he doesn’t play with him. 🤦🏻🤣

I'm glad the Habs are making it exciting.

Ending it in 5 would have been underwhelming for a matchup of this magnitude.

Yes, I've only been on this rollercoaster for 32 years now.

I mean if people can't see this team is better suited to play this time of year than previous editions, I got nothing for em. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You guys saying Matthews and Marner have disappeared are being silly.
- Zezel

They may not have disappeared but their numbers - or lack of finish, if you will - are certainly disconcerting.

I wouldn't say Marner has disappeared, but my opinion would be he definitely hasn't played very well.

Matthews is on everything, it isn't translating to the scoresheet at the pace were used to but a good chunk of his scoring chances are also dying on Marners stick. So there's that.

Matthews is playing a good series.

The Habs are doing a good job keeping him from shooting but it frees up Hyman alot which creates opportunities for his line.

Marner isn't playing horribly, but you'd expect him to bury one of the many chances playing with Matthews has given him.

In both cases, Price has made some pretty damn good saves to prevent them getting points.

It may be a reductive take, but I'm thinking Nylander has benefitted from the Habs concerted efforts against the AM34-MM line.

Also, Price has been seemingly invincible on breakaways which has been a real difference maker.

My memory may be half drunk but I don't remember giving him much on breakaways. Couple - few... All half assed shot attempts?

wow that’s longer than me🤣

i don’t think that they’re better suited than the ‘93 team

that’s when i started watching

i became very cynical during the jfj jr years then hopeful when they made the big shanny, babs and sweet lou hidings to “change the culture” then back to cynical

greedy pencil neck is playing horribly 🤦‍♂️

i wouldn’t expect much more out of a vanilla dman like hole if I’d invested heavily in fancy pants holdout winger ice dancers to wow the fans during the regular season 🤦🏿‍♂️

Ffs.

Their captain almost died in the first game.

The Leafs are 3-1 in games I give a (frank) about.

Remember that Boston team that took 7 games to beat Riemer and Kessel? Remember that WSH team that went down 2-0 to a low CBJ seed?

You guys need to (frank) off with your leafs PTSD and be okay with losing games because it’s going to happen regardless of who they face.

Enjoy the run and stop being a sore loser when they lose. This team is good as (frank) and has a legit shot to win the cup.

My nhl.tv stream got switched to the NBC one somewhere around the end of 2nd period.
The commentators were indicating that Marner was having a great game...

For next game, it will be interesting to see what Keefe does with Thornton.
(I still think it was a good add, but he's been even slower this playoffs series than during the regular season).
Same for the goalies - I definitely think Keefe should start Andersen; Campbell was awful last night. No free passes for anyone.

I would like to see:

Galchenyuk - Matthews - Hyman
Marner - Kerfoot - Nylander
Giraffe - Spezza - Mikheyev
Brooks/Thornton - Nash - Simmonds
(asuming Foligno is still out injured)

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Bogosian
Dermott - Holl

Andersen
Campbell

Yep. It’s tough when you expect a better game and they let you down like this.

I’m not worried yet. They literally played one of their worst games of the season last night and still took it to OT. If it wasn’t for Price the series is over. I *hope* to see them come out flying on Saturday and dominate the way we know they can.

Sandin's status went from future 1st line D-man to bust in Leafland in approx 3 plays..

that first goal not enough defensive support (and brutal Campbell) and the second goal was a bad play by him (and again brutal Campbell).

Crazy comments. Everyone take a moment to breathe. Leafs are going to be fine. Montreal came up with a desperation response. Price made some really huge saves. He looks so cool and his game appears to be effortless. Creates the impression that the Leafs are being easily held down. But that is not the case.

Leafs are a good team. Canadians are not. Leafs will close it out in the next game or the one after that. Winnipeg is going to be a much tougher challenge.

This was the first game that the Leafs didn’t respond with any physical element. They just sat back and let the Habs take it to them. There was no Leafs forecheck as a result. It all went the other way and the Leafs were on their heals all night. I would have expected Simmonds to start the second period with some crashing about but nada.

Campbell had trouble covering the puck a couple of times but was solid much of the time.

No look pass on the blue line in OT?

We need to see if the vets were more than just a calming influence over the regular season. The first 5 minutes tomorrow will tell a lot about this this team. I went Montreal hospitals overrun with 2500 poutine choking cases.
