You must have missed last years playoffs where Brayden Point had 33 points in 23 games. Or the 1" taller Kucherov who had 34 points in 25 games.
Or this years playoffs. - manvanfan
Tyler johnson is pretty mini too and was good. But hey, let's stick to what worked in the 70's! |

Are you serious? Eklund is very interesting. He missed the beginning of the season with Covid, missed the WJs - then had an appendicitis and a few other injuries until he came back in Jan and put up better numbers than any 18yr old since Lindholm in the SHL including Alexander Holtz (year older & his linemate). He'll be long gone by the 9th pick, we should count our lucky stars if he falls to us. BTW, Luke Hughes plays D nothing like Quinn - so that weird "I hate his brother so I don't want him" opinion doesn't make any sense either. You might be the one that needs to wake up.

Luke Hughes plays defence pretty much exactly like his brother. |

Van could use a single RHD. |

you do understand that reuby's position is about toughness and recognizing the deficiencies on the current team. i don't follow amateur hockey/drafts so i don't really have an opinion. i've always maintained that BPA is the best way to go in the first 3ish rounds. but i do recognize the value in seeing what the team has (types of players as well as positionally) in order to recognize the team's needs. you can disagree which is perfectly reasonable but he does have a point.
toronto is a very skilled team as well. - RealityChecker
This.
I don't understand some people, how many midgets/lightweights do they think the team should have?
They are usually the 1st ones screaming how the midget/lightweight, needs protection, because they get pushed around extremely easy, then it becomes Bo fault because he needs to protect all his teammates. |

Unless youre tampa. - neem55
The Canucks have at least 10 midgets/lightweights, that could end up on the team next year and fans want more, yee-haw.
How many of these players does Tampa have? |

I wonder if any team (NYR, LA) is going to seriously consider offer sheeting Petey this year? |

No not that.
If the BPA = small, skilled, fast, not physical, then you fill the need for size, physicality in other ways. "midgets/lightweights" at the time of drafting doesn't mean they won't ever fill out or develop the other parts of the game throughout their career. If you wanna draft for need then you end up with Virtanens, Juolevis. |

Following Treliving’s model on how to build a team of pillow fighters.
There’s room for the small skilled guys but there’s room for the big skilled guys as well. Team needs a balance of both.
People will point out All the small successful guys but ignore the others. |

Neem usually gets upset when I say we need bigger guys, as the team has their quota for midgets and flyweights.
How many more midgets would you like to see on this team?
Because I would like them to become a cup contender eventually.
Also, I have watched the other Hughes kid, he is just as brutal defensively as the one on the Canucks. |

No he only plays like 1
6-4 Ritchie should have his way with him.
If he can catch him. |

Yeah you can't be Cam Robinson and pick every player under 5'10" and think they will make the NHL in a top 6 role. You pick the good ones. |

They have lots of cap space, Canucks... not so much. Giving up 4 late firsts for Petey might push a team like NYR into the fight.
Could the Canucks match a 12 or 14 mil one year offer without breaking themselves? |

If someone wants to pay EP $12m - $14m a season and EP and his agent sign it then good riddance. I’ll help pack his bags and personally drive him to the airport. |

That's a lot of first round picks.
I would think 8.7 would be max offer for Petey.
$6,544,641 – $8,726,188: 2021 first, second, and third round picks
$8,726,189 – $10,907,735: Two first round picks*, 2021 second and third round picks
$10,907,736 and over: Four first round picks** |

Does schmidt have value with his cap hit? I personally don't buy the rumors but just curious haha - if we can get more than the 3rd...we could use that + Edler $ to go after Hamilton (not sure the best idea) |

100% I hate a small d-core. I’m a bit old fashioned but I think a d-core that intimidates and makes opposing players think twice when entering the offensive zone is the best kind of defence you can have. Same goes for players standing in front of your goalie. There has to be a price that’s paid for loitering. You just don’t get that from small d-men. |
