eagles and flyers fans do have an inordinately large percentage of angry douchebags as members. - kicksave856
Did you know they had a Jail in old Veterans Stadium, same place they threw snowballs at Santa Claus. Classy. |

Snowballs at Santa before the Vet, and the Vet has been gone for ages.
The snowball incident occurred against a drunk 19 year old Santa, and the parents did not like how he was approaching their kids. They took business into their own hands. Stupid.
Funny enough, had the Eagles lost that game like they were supposed to (they had stunk all season and people were rooting for a loss), they would have landed the #1 in the draft. Some guy named OJ Simpson.
Yeah. OJ. That’s how long ago it was.
The holding cell was a fantastic idea, and it worked. Had an old-school Irish judge too, who didn’t take any crap. Judge Seamus McCaffery. A real poop-kicker from Belfast. Love that guy. Can you believe that was like 23 years ago?
This worked so well that stadiums across the league, including collegiate venues, adopted it. We don’t talk about those. Doesn’t fit a narrative. But they did a great job and cracking down on the asshats. |

Nah they pretty much tried to intimidate us all night and followed us outside, wanting to fight because we celebrated a goal a little too much to their liking.
We walked past a police officer and he took care of them. - Scabeh
Sorry that happened to you, man. Yeah, we’ve got a sect of drunken and unruly toolboxes that don’t want you there, and they’ll let you know it. Usually if you can make them laugh, they’ll actually become friendly, but otherwise, yeah, get security. I’ve actually seen other fans win over some of those jerks to the point that the drunks will stand up for them against other antagonists.
I hate the reputation it gives us. I’m not one of those baby-eating puppy-kickin’ fans. It’s just my home (or was. I’m in DC). I always like meeting people who visit. I’d have talked puck with you and recommended a few great bars and places to get food afterwards.
Thing is, the reputation then falls on me when I visit other cities. I’ve been to about half of the MLB stadiums at this point. Some places will be friendly, and I’ll meet some great people. Other places they’ll immediately treat me like a punk and give me hell the whole time when I’m just minding my business just because I’m wearing Philly gear. Milwaukee was a rough one, for example. San Francisco was uneasy at times, too. And of course the Mets, but that’s a given. You don’t wanna fly the other teams colors and loudly brag when it’s a NY/Philly matchup regardless of the game. |

Sorry for rambling.
It’s actually a cool city now. I wouldn’t have recommended anyone visit 20 years ago, but it’s had a bit of a renaissance. NY and DC are too damn expensive, and Philly sits right in between only about 90 minutes from both.
The bar/restaurant/brewery/nightlife scene has boomed to go with all of the new business. Millennials are starting to boot out all that old blood which Philly is known so well for.
Although, even the new guys all seem to embrace our anthem....

All good. Montreal is my original 6 team of choice. Good luck next game.
Always enjoyed that city. Great places to hang out. Good culture, food, and some damn fine women. I try to visit every couple of years.
I also find the way you guys swear to be entertaining |

I'm partial to the Habs because I grew up here. Lived in Calgary and Vancouver for 25+ so I still have a soft spot for the Nucks. |
