Can the top guys do (frank)ing something? 22M and they need to be saved by a 700K 37 year old? - Steven_Seagull
matthews has been effective even when he isn't scoring. He's been decent defensively, make the habs cough up the puck, he hits and is physical. Honestly, he's doing a lot.
Pretty sure he had 5 hits in the first game and lead all leafs in the stat.

God damn miss Tucker, Clark, Corson and Roberts. - Roadrunner75
This exactly. You could add Gilmour in there as well. We need more players with heart and determination. This team is still full of p#ssys. |

Ample evidence at this point Marner's game not translating to playoff hockey. 1 goal in last 17 playoff games. - fifty__missions
I agree with this. |

I dont really care about goals from Marner. How many points does he have? That said, you're not necessarily wrong. It'sbeen rough for him the past 2 series. - UsernameUnknown
Honestly, I think he just needs to stop thinking offence all the time and just focus on work and being strong on the puck. North South hockey. THe points will come if he plays harder and faster. |

Man, all I hear is how "we need depth to win". Leafs depth shows up when the big boys are being neutralized. So now it switches to "the big boys aren't doing enough".
Like, isn't a dangerous team a team that has threats everywhere? If you want to only see the team succeed when the top line goes then cheer for the oilers. - Aaron_85
If your big players don’t show up your team isn’t going far. Depth is great but it can’t sustainably carry the load. |

queef is Richarding the dog for some reason🤦♂️
he was either telling the boyz to stay out of the box n not get hurt for the next round
OR he’s on the take for a 7 game series (rsn, etc.)
wtf would he challenge that goal where everyone was just out of position and scrambling🤦🏿♂️
and he had the benefit of video replay🤦♂️ |

Tucker would literally makes these kids cry with his intensity level. They would be shook. Lol |

Him and Matthews lost their swagger this game; they are not winning puck battles at all. They both are premier puck hounds and they look disinterested. |

They haven't not shown up. Plenty of opportunities. It feels like offense is dying on Marner's stick mostly.
Nylander is a big player and he's showing up. Tavares is out.
All we need is a few depth guys to pull the team forward so it buys enough time for the big boys to figure their poop out.

It's not even the lack of goals as much as he's not effective at all. I'd be fine with it if he looked dangerous and was creating chances but he's just disappeared. That and the delay of game with no pressure, seems like the mental pressure gets to him. |

Marner has done a few small things right, keeping plays alive at the blue line and not being a complete tire fire in the D-Zone, but has not been a net positive overall.
Marner in the Juniors stepped up in a major way in the playoffs and Memorial Cup. But he has to learn stepping up doesnt mean fancier plays than the regular season, it means simpler plays. I think he's still young enough to get there.
Trading him for anything less than a massive overpayment is really stupid, no matter how bad his playoff performances have been so far. |
