Believe the Leafs are still the favourites headed into game 7.

If you are a Leaf fan, you want them to score first.

Do you think Doug Ford should use his emergency powers under Covid to allow 2500 Leaf fans into the building on Monday night? As small as the crowd was last night, I thought they added a really positive presence for the entire broadcast.

Jones still has another year.

Trade Marner for Jones (with an extension) + something else.

Jones analytics arent very good.

Rosie Dimanno has a superb article in the Toronto Star on the impact of last night's game. Leads me to thinking that Matthews is getting unfairly dumped on. When the opposing team puts all their planning and primary effort into stopping your best player, you need to make sure everyone else steps up to share some of the burden.

Spezza looks good. Nylander has been the Leafs best player. But there are too many passengers on this bus.

Can't help but notice how the role players for Montreal (Taffoli, Anderson and especially, the incredibly irritating Gallagher) just keep doing their thing every shift.

Too many people are shining a light on Matthews in terms of his needing to do more. I would say the bigger issue is that some of the key role players for Leafs have not shown up in key games and for that reason alone, Montreal has been able to execute on their #1 priority which has been to keep Matthews on the outside.

Mitch's comments here, that they "were not ready to play" and that they "need to start on time" indicate that nothing has changed with the group despite all the old vets being around.

Why? With the artificial crowd noise the ACC/SBA has never been louder.

I predicted the Habs in 6 by coming back and winning 4 straight closing out the series in front of the first live crowd of the year. I thought that was the Leafiest and therefor most likely result. Clearly I was wrong. Losing in game 7 is Leafier.

Some people are off the bandwagon. Some people might be pissed off. Some people are numb. Very few remain positive.

This is doggerel.

Matthews needs to play to his ability, and score. Take a look around the league at the big dogs on successful teams. They face the exact same thing, and rise above it.

Shove your Matthews participation ribbon you know where.

Show up for 60 mins from the first puck drop or show up for the 3rd period like the last 2 games.

Which one show up?

Safety first spatso. Can't have the wuflu risk.

What'll all the yahoos on here do spatso, who've been yelping for masks, social distancing, lockdown, vaccines, etc, etc... Calling the Americans stupid, losers, fat, etc for opening up in Texas and Florida and all the other places.

C'mon spatso, we can't have those people expose their hypocrisy again, like the flunkies they are.

I have spent most of the time leaning on the stay safe side of the discussion. Canada's infection, ICU and mortality rates are exceptional compared to the US. And, even in terms of jab rates, Canada is pulling well ahead of the US in 1st vaccinations and will quickly surpass them in 2nd jab rates as well.

But, we are coming to an end. I thought the Covid triumphal celebrations were all being geared towards Canada Day (or Fete Jean Baptiste in Quebec).

But, can you think of anything more celebratory of moving beyond this pandemic than putting fans in the seats for the game 7 showdown between Montreal and Toronto? The small crowed of 2500 fans last night, reminded me just how much I miss the electricity.

At least Kerfoot, Hyman and Spezza had good games.
Rielly as well and Brodie and Bogosian were ok.

Marner Matthews Nylander Simmonds and Thornton nowhere to be seen offensively.
Matthews with his stupid smile should realize playoffs hockey is different.
Man op or get traded to Edmonton.

- MaximusAurelius

Nylander was noticeable, especially in the first half of the game.

Took 2 games they didn’t deserve to win to overtime.

Leafs need to get the lead early and get to price. He’s been making big saves early that seems to be getting into leaf players heads. Just crash and bang at the front of the net like mtl has been doing. There has been no desperation because they knew they always had another game to fall back on.

Time to close it out.

Round 2 has already started. Whoever wins the north is at a disadvantage. The other team in semi final will have extra rest. They should have played game 6 on fri and game 7 on sat. Not to mention the rust building on Wpg. Poor scheduling, it was the perfect point to get this sorted with back to backs
