I think the bidding war for him would be insane. Would rather get him as a UFA. A lot of teams could outbid the Canucks - NewYorkNuck
As I mentioned earlier any trade would be conditional on an extension. I think you might get a contract for slightly less than on the open market and it guarantees you actually get him.
I'd offer a 2022 1st, pick either Schmidt or Myers, 2nd, one of our D prospects excluding one drafted 1st round this year. If I had to, i'd include BB or Miller. |

Some think that he wouldn't be protected in the expansion draft and used as a bit of a cap dump by TB.
I think most peoples obsession with other teams RHD is based on the fact that the right side of Van's D is pretty poor at times and the players just look so much better on a better team.
You can probably find the type of player Cernak is, if you got between the how great he is crowd and the how much he sucks crowd. - manvanfan
That's the hope if TB don't do 4D e-draft protection. But wouldn't overpay for him. |

Lol crazy overpayment even JB wouldn't do. If Schmidt plus prospects not named Podz isn't enough screw it. |

I think Schmidt would be a decent add for any deal involving our D. - Load Management
That’s a good idea but leaves a very young left side. |

The hardest thing to acquire in hockey is a legit #1 Dman. It can be argued that the Canucks have never had one, yes that includes Ohlund and Jovo.
I mean we've barely had legit #1C's in our history, that's the 2nd hardest thing to acquire.
I'll remind you we need to shed salary so an inclusion of Myers or Schmidt is a no brainer. A 2022 1st should be late in the round and if it costs you a prospect OJ that can't crack last year's lineup, a 2nd and a top six winger so be it. They're much easier to replace.

Getting top D takes an aggressive offer. We have the assets if a price could be set. Definitely have to consider getting into the bidding. |

Disagree.
We definitely do not have to get into a bidding war for Seth Jones given where this team is at.
It'd be great to have him, but i'd rather takes chances to overpay and sign him as a UFA than trade.

Take it as a compliment that you're smarter than him. If he knew how to insult on poster comps all he'd had to do is look in a mirror. - NuckUp
If you’re calling someone an idiot, you should make grammatical errors. It undermines what you’re saying.

Jones was traded for 1 top 6 forward. He's not Hedman for that haul. |

I have to agree. This team is thin in talent everywhere, throughout the organization. |
