No it hasn’t. Jim has taken a shortcut every year trying to be competitive- hurting the team in the future. #plannoplan - 1970vintage
Depends on ppl’s definition of short cut. Early on his mandate was a retool. Moving on. Trying to be competitive should always be a GM’s job. We still got good picks.
Miller was top 6 need.
Myers same thing for RHD
Ferland was a minor gamble.
Schmidt was cheap giving a 3rd.
-Edler isn’t getting younger
-young left side
All other bottom 6 UFA’s the term was 1yr too long. The poor value here has been problematic. |

Well, he's an NHL GM so there's no sense in thinking we're smarter than them. - golfingsince
Until the other day it was only Jim Benning makes mistakes.
You've changed man. |

Yvan Cournoyer was one of my first favourite players. Another was Stan Makita. This nonsense that small players succeed at the NHL level being a new thing is just that....nonsense.
There have always been successful small players, it's just that much more difficult when you're slight of stature. Gretzky was said to be lucky to score 20 goals when he entered the league because of his frame.
Yes, the rules have changed somewhat to allow smaller players to be more successful but at the end of the day size, speed, skill is better than any two of that combination. - golfingsince
Loved Makita. Went from a pesky star to Lady Byng lol |

Every one of those things you mentioned were short term thinking, and have either hurt the team already, or will in the near future. |

Not at all.
It's just hypocritical of you to criticize a GM a few days after saying we shouldn't criticize our GM and think we're smarter than them. It doesn't matter than we criticized the GM when they made the picks or signings, they're GM's so they're smarter than us. |

Are you suggesting that it’s difficult so why bother? - 1970vintage
Not at all. I would make an attempt at least every draft if you can to find a RHD.
My thought would be that if you can't get a #1 RHD, get a 2/3 just pair them with a #1 LHD if you can get one of those.
Will probably still need to draft one in the 1st or 2nd round to get one though.

Would that make us the team that beat the team that lost in the first round and nearly beat the team that got swept in the 2nd? Just trying to figure out how awesome we are. |

This game is going to get out of hand. Hopefully the Avs can avoid the BS. Still plenty of time for Reeves to do something stupid. |

My all time favourite Canuck is Andre Boudrias, a small player. Big fan of Fleury during his day.

Don't criticize our GM but everyone else is fair game? Hopefully you have analytics to back this up or i'll never believe you. |

I only got to see him a few times in Utica this season but he looked to have transitioned well. A plus player, playing against other teams top 6 most nights. Hopefully middle of next season he should be pushing for a look in the NHL. |

I'm too young to remember Boudrias. I remember Stan but his story was also one of the first books I ever read. My grandmother used to give me hockey books to read.
I'd like Fleury more if he wasn't a Flame. Probably would have had fun partying with him though. |

Ken Dryden was my first favourite player. Have a really small Dryden Habs jersey in the back of my closet I got for Christmas and wore in Novice. Kirk McLean and Mattias Ohlund are my favourite Canucks of all time. |

I see 1-2 more years of seasoning.
Jurmo 2-3yrs min my guess but LHD. Truscott the same
So need is drafting more RHD if not also signing UFA/trading for RHD. Expecting 1 signed eg Hamonic. 2 be better.
