More from 590. Fans are too tough on Marner. He needs less pressure, lower expectations. Needs to be just one of the guys

I'm only providing insight, I'm a dispassionate fan

If Shanny wants changes to happen does he trust Kyle to make huge trades after he already entrusted Kyle to sign players, FA's, trade picks and prospects.... resulting in failure? I can't imagine so.

The media response to this and how that affects Shanny also plays a part, even though every GM says it doesn't they are lying.

I think Dubas has been doing a good job with a lot. F.A. signings, and trades have been fine. I feel like he's almost been unlucky. A lot of trades that look good in theory just didn't pan out. Nobody expected Barrie to suck that hard. Nobody thought Foligno would get hurt and be that ineffective. Ditto Simmonds. Jury is still out on his drafting, but shows promise. Marners contract looks bad. But I like everything else.

Gotta fix the goalie issue, and tinker with the core somehow. But I dont see any reason Dubas can't be the one to do it.

Crazy Leaf fans. I know this was a tough series loss but don't over-react here. Toronto is very talented and still very young team. All they need, like I told Islanders fans a few years ago when they lost JT but still were a good team, is the "right" coach for this team. Unfortunately Barry Trotz is not available at this time but maybe there are some others who are much better getting the "optimal" performance out of their players. I not saying who but maybe Gerard Gallant or even John Tortorella (don't laugh). I guarantee you if Torts was your coach Marner and Matthews would play much better or they would sit! You play hard or you don't play at all and maybe this overly gifted offensive team needs some of that tough love from their coach. Remember it could be worse, you could be a Devil fan
- Gambi99

Leafs already went through the Devils phase...about 20 times. Some players can bring it in the playoffs, others can’t.
If fans are satisfied with a good reg season team, then hop on board. If you want more, better look elsewhere.

If you don't look at the salaries, he wasnt any worse than others, Kerfoot, Foligno, Thornton, simmonds

I honestly agree with that. Problem is, you get paid like a superstar, you gotta be one.

True. Mitch was paid for the regular season. The others should carry him in the PO’s.

And like I said before, DON'T give away first rounders. Hope he heeds the advice.

Tough loss for the boys, but still very proud of the way we improved defensively this year. Going to be lots of questions about the group for next year for sure.

This year, theoretically, was the best year for them to dish out a first for a guy like Foligno. It sucks he just looked like one of the guys out there. Its like the city of Toronto sucked the fight out of him. but pre-Toronto Foligno would have been nice to have. Overpayment or not, good addition in theory, but didn't pan out. IMO.

Nothing screams I need to be one of the guys like I'm going to fold the team over a barrel to be one of their highest paid players.

I think Spezza, Bogosian, Hyman should be brought back.

Thornton will call it a career.... it's sad it ends this way but... it is what it is.

And Simmonds will have proven me right in the end... Perry was a much better pickup for cheaper.
