I don't know how much of an appetite there would be from non playoff teams to take on that kind of salary, especially one that's front loaded bonuses. Especially in the current economic climate.
- leafsfann

That are already paid.

You trade him after July 1st and he is owed

1M,8M,8M,8M

Cheap as (frank).

1 M for Mitch Marner next year.

Honest question, what if I were to tell you the leafs just set the Habs back by years. Bergy now thinks because they slayed the giant, he's on the right track buying into the aging core. Frivolous free agent contracts and trading of youth on the docket. What weight would that theory hold... 🤔
- joel878

I was going to say the same thing considering how many Habs fans were calling for their heads at 3-1. But give Bergevin credit, he built a team that had playoff success, maybe he knows something. I think as long as they have Price playing well they can't really do anything other than try to go for it every year. He will always make sure they're competitive.

Dubass should’ve kept martin

got Wayne train and picked up some more legit 3/4 liners like clutterbuck 🤦🏿‍♂️

Guys who will skate there little hearts out for a cup 👍

teammates who gaf👍🏿

that’s why this core is flawed and has been since shanny’s Great Leap Forward 🤦‍♂️

everyone’s getting paid irregardless of results🤦🏿‍♂️

so leafy 🤦‍♂️

I’ve been telling you guys this for years🤦🏿‍♂️

- Skalapy

Wayne train seems to have his best years behind him. Had a handful of good games at the start of the season, then nothing much. I was always hoping for more based on his reputation. Didn't see it in the playoffs.

With Marner it’s been 3 years in a row he’s been poop. 0 goals - 10 assists in his last 18 games.

Matthews has 8 goals - 9 assists in those same games.

Matthews needed to do more this series, but Marner is by far the biggest problem.

- Steven_Seagull

Matthews needed to cash, bottom line. But it's a lot tougher for him to do that when his winger kills a high percentage of scoring chances and isnt even a smidge of scoring threat.

I'll argue all day, Marner neutered Matthews all series. The coach refusing to separate them is madness. Babcock stuff. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Nylander-Matthews-Spezza would’ve been nice to see.

Those bonuses are still due in the other 3 years. Smaller, yes. Half the league still can't / can barely afford those big cheques July 1.

I swear to god Seagull.

I've seen some amazing goaltenders coming and going in Montreal.

Price is right up there with Patrick Roy in my book.

The way this guy moves, considering his size, is insane to me.

The way he always, always finds another gear when the playoffs come.

I truly hope he wins a cup one day. If it's not in Montreal, than like Hasek did with a powerhouse Detroit team.

Guy deserves it.

Yeah Price shocked me.

Like I said, any goalie can steal a series. The level of goalie throws more or less chips into it happening.

Price was good this series, not so much overall the last 4 years.

What are the chances he can do it again next series? Again. Not good.

While is salary is mostly bonuses. The leafs have already paided the front loaded portion of it. Starting next season, his actual salary will be below his cap him. I honestly don't know, but depending on which direction some of these teams plan to go, I could see Calgary, Columbus and Buffalo as 3 non playoffs teams that might be interested.

I thought Matthews was dangerous all series.

Price has stopped him many times with great saves and Danault got better at covering him as the series went on.

Seriously, Phil gets too little credit for how good he is at stopping top players from scoring. He deserves these considerations for the Selke despite his offense not being as good as others.

Marner on the other hand.... he wasn't even someone I was worried about. There was no way this guy was scoring on Price.

buston glassthews wasn’t the problem 🤦‍♂️

he’s a keeper but i wouldn’t be surprised if he bails to glendale and wins a cup 👍🏿

I’ll be rooting for him after the laffs get bounced 🤦‍♂️

b!tch marner and greedy willi will end up being kylie dubass’ white whales🤦🏿‍♂️

just so obsessed with skillz, sick snipes n dirty dangles that he got bent over the barrel at the expense of defense 🤦‍♂️

Nylander played a pretty damn good series for the Leafs though.

Especially considering he wasn't playing with Tavares anymore.

As in getting ice in the locker room to heal his old bones?

Because he was a complete non factor in this series.

I ultimately couldn't give a (frank) who's head rolls because that's where I'm at, but canning Dubas and Keefe just seems like steps backwards. Shanahan? Who cares. Assistant coaches... Done that.

To me the only move is to hit the core of this team with a rocket strike. That's the only play.

It's Marner and Rielly that are the easy outs. Retool around the big centres, figure the goalie thing out, rebuild the back end around Muzzin and Brodie.

Still plenty of shots left to shoot but you can't go backwards to do it and tinkering by adding complimentary pieces clearly doesn't do it either. Gotta shake the core to shake the stigma, the rest will get it.
