More fan backlash is coming if the Leafs let Hyman walk. They do not have the cap space to resign him. They are going to need to move quickly to make adjustments to the upper levels of the team's salary base.
- spatso

They have the cap space. Andersen and his 5 million will probably not be back, plus Hyman already counts as 2.75. So if they want him back, they can bring him back. the question is if how much of Andersen's 5 million are they going to put towards a backup, and if they want to spend whats left on Hyman.

Wont' be a popular opinion but at 32 yrs old and having suffered significant injuries in the last two playoffs ...I'd have him on the unprotected list for Seattle.

He's got 3 years and 5.6 per left. They won't be his best years. I really like Muzzin but with that cap space and those injuries I'm ready to move on.

- The Law

It's an interesting idea because I feel he'd be an obvious pick for Seattle.

I would protect him, guy is most likely your best defenseman overall. Even in 2-3 years, he'll remain effective.

Losing him would create a hole not easily filled.

Things came VERY close to be completely different though, Matthews hit the post in OT in game 6, he scores and we have everyone in MTL fired and Leafs are back as a strong contender for the cup. One post.

I am 100% convinced you could swap the Leafs and Avs players and they would still lose.

put on a Leafs jersey and its over

Allergy to playing in June, it just can't happen, just too risky.

Might be the color.

Habs also had trouble all year with their blue jersey on....

I feel ya, but it's more bad luck than anything.

He's not someone that's injury prone per say... it just happens at the worst possible time.

Nothing about this team screamed out to me as bein a Cup contender this year. I guess anything can happen but they just aren't good enough. Culture needs to change, personnel needs to change, everything needs to change.

Perhaps they are cursed, perhaps it's karma for all the idiot Leafs fans who walk around making guarantees. Either way this is enough. I will not support this team until there is playoff success again.

oops.. I was wrong.

That’s ok, we are all searching for answers. On paper the Leaf’s were one of the best teams in the league this season, if not the best. I mean, it’s just so unexplainable.

Because of covid, the Leaf’s road to the cup final was never so straight and clear of obstacles. One could say this was the Leaf’s year. Now or never some said. Geez, I hope those people are wrong.

Saying that, as a hockey fan and armchair GMs, we love to analyze our team’s failures and try to decipher the puzzle to success. Here’s to a fun summer of second guessing!

talent is there on paper, the problem is confidence, urgency and playing as a team when needed.

Great players are great players not for what they do in the regular season…for what they do when it counts…

After JT went down this team needed 34 and 16 to put the team on their back and finish the Habs. Instead they went complete Elfoldo… and couldn’t even do it for one game When the Leafs absolutely needed it to happen.

Truth. Hyman's work ethic was on display this series.
Truth. Hyman's lack of ability to alter a game was on display this series.

Yeah that's ugly. Except it's only right if you think the ACC was built in 2004.

I thought Hyman did good for the Leafs. Made things happen, crashed the net.

Missed a whole lot of opportunities but scoring on playoffs Price is hard...

Is this what it felt like being a Cubs or Bosox fan during their worst years?

Game 5 and 6 were Key

they got down, showed some life and came back to Tie. 5 seconds into OT, the dumbest turnover in history by Galc.

Game 6, again..showed something..game back from 2 down in the 3rd.
OT they dominated, shots were 10-1. another turnover by dermott...game over

stuff like that will break confidence Im sure.

Game 6 OT I feel like they did what they needed to..played in the Habs end for 15 mins.

nothing matters when its the Leafs

My father-in-law warned me about the Leafs years ago when I first met him:

“I don’t watch the Leafs anymore. I don’t let myself get sucked in. The same thing happens every year. They suck you all the way in, then let you down. Don’t fall for it. Don’t get sucked in.”

Morning SUCKERS!

I try to remind myself of this.

But it's 7 games of "one post"

Eventually you have to assume that there is something else going on.

I just wanted one (frank)ing playoff series win damn.
