Drysdale, Gibson, Lindholm and Zegras 😉 - mr.sir
I’ll trade 2 of those guys to the Leafs….
Out of those 4 … for me Drysdale even more so than Z is completely untouchable… 18 yr old debut …. now 19, already a top 4 dman.. on his way to being our Makar.. and a staple on International Canadian teams for the next 15 yrs.

Yeah, Drysdale is something else.
Him and Byram at the last WJC were god damn amazing.
I'm a big fan of Zegras as well, don't trade that one.

That’s ok, we are all searching for answers. On paper the Leaf’s were one of the best teams in the league this season, if not the best. I mean, it’s just so unexplainable.
Because of covid, the Leaf’s road to the cup final was never so straight and clear of obstacles. One could say this was the Leaf’s year. Now or never some said. Geez, I hope those people are wrong.
Saying that, as a hockey fan and armchair GMs, we love to analyze our team’s failures and try to decipher the puzzle to success. Here’s to a fun summer of second guessing! - bloatedmosquito
Sometimes questions are more important than answers. You pose an important riddle. What happens next? Leaf insiders and their fans need to take some time to think about it. |

St.louis was the same. Moved pieces around and lost or missed the playoffs before winning. Like it happens.
It shows just how special the penguins, Chicago and even the kings are. - Aaron_85
The Blues won the cup after adding O'Reilly to their Core and Binnington coming out of nowhere to steal them games. The leafs don't have the cap space to add another player like O'Reilly, even if their is a team like Buffalo begging to get rip off in a trade, and they don't have a goalie that can steal them games, never mind an entire series. Unless this teams core just magically starts producing, there are no easy fixes this team. If they don't make changes to the core, then they either need to find a goalie that can steal them games, or hope they can find a Kucherov or Point in the late 2 or 3 rounds. Neither are small tasks.

Leafs should trade Marner to MTL, best way to screw MTL if/when they make the playoffs again.
Pressure really seem to get to him. |

thats what I mean, i wont matter.
have no idea since I am just a fan a million miles away..but is it just the pressure they are under? as the years go on and it just builds more and more...players just cant deal with it..no matter who they are.
i have no idea..because everyone picked to leafs to sail through this series...it wasnt much of a question. and again...thud - senstroll
Bieksa once said, the leafs are built for the reg season, Montreal was built for the playoffs.
MTL squeaked into the playoffs, leafs flew into them.
Montreal is moving on.
Leafs are still chokers
Its on the coaches and players to rev up and prepare for the games. Game 7, the leafs had no intensity. Matthews had no intensity.
I think had Tavares been on the ice, he would have got them fired up because he would be fired up. |

But they didn’t change their style of play. You can’t just add a few gritty washed up players.
How many times did Leaf players not finish checks and just turned away or did fly bys? I think it was game 2 they came out and finished there checks and looked amazing...
If you add a washed up Thorton, Simmonds, and Bogo and play the same style of turning back and stick checks, what does it matter?
When you play a ‘trap’ team like Montreal, you have to dump it deep and forecheck. The leafs cant forcheck. It scares them... |

talent is there on paper, the problem is confidence, urgency and playing as a team when needed. - Symba007
You peel back the layers and the Leafs lost this series in the margins. They played great D and got solid 'tending. They played pretty well overall at 5v5. They outscored the Habs 18-14. I can't imagine many teams have won a 7 game series while scoring 14 goals or less?
They lost in the margins. They gave up a shorty ( a game winner). They turned the puck over for all 4 game winning Hab goals. Sandin and Thornton in Game 1. Galchenyuk for 5. Dermott for game 6. The real game winner last night was Gallaghers and that followed Marner's turnover.
I'm sure the Habs turned the puck over but I can't think of any/many times they did it in such terrible moments and/or at such terrible times of the game. The Habs played a almost perfectly safe series when it mattered. |

Yep, he said that right at the beginning of the series and was right. To me however, it is also about the team system. There system and style is playoff hockey, not LEaf shinny hockey. You can’t teach players talent, but you can teach them to hit, play defence, etc. |

Price didn’t win them the series.
The Leafs lost it with there lethargic play and unwillingness to play playoff style hockey. |

Leafs probably win game 6 OT if Price isn't in net.
But he was - so we lose.

Hall was the tap in...he was dirt cheap
a 1st gets it done. does it make a diff? hard to say
but I cant see how he is not better than Foligno...and what they needed in case of a skill player injury
before we hear about how he only wanted to go to Boston. there are many reports (and Bob Mac said the same) he was an option for the Leafs
TODD (FROM MARIO)
@Totally_Offside
The latest Leaf report is a very good episode. One notable comment they make is that Hall would have agreed to come to Toronto if the Leafs had wanted him. They say that they both know the idea ppl have that he wouldn't have come the Toronto is false.
