Can’t wait until he goes off in the playoffs on his new team.

His dad has conditioned him to fail when he has too much pressure on himself.

The 2nd line probably isn’t true but his dad is a psychopath so who knows.

i heard that pencil neck’s dad was doing gain of function research 😡

Grow some balls Dubas and Adams and trade Marner for Echiel

You aren’t getting true value for either so might as well help eachother out

- Santo_44

Marner would light the leafs up in the reg season.

also seems bad, if true

- senstroll

Very bad if true.

I know for sure Paul was dictating what he did early on in his career. Plenty of people who know him will advocate for that...he’s been a lot more tight lipped for obvious reasons

Is it safe?

Of course.
The outcome was expected. No one should be surprised

Feel free to find your way out of here. Your schtick is getting old.

What? I thought I was helping. Sure, it was another heartbreaking playoff performance but it’s not the end of the world. Definitely not the biggest leaf choke job as some have suggested. There have been worse. Much worse.

IMO a team grows by its failures so by next season the leafs should be proverbial giants. I think that’s something to look forward to.

As long as it’s not playoffs.

Leafs could be 8th seed I don’t care, really don’t think that matters anymore.

Earlier in his career, he was a kid. So expected.

If that is true, then we do have a culture issue.

You don't decide what you do as a player. Your coach tells you what to do and you (frank)ing do it.

and yet, marner is a guy that plays to win and defends, blocks shots.
sure, he has had a bad series.
still he does not have the same character issues as matthews.
stupid smirk is just a way of showing your arrogance.

- MaximusAurelius

Do you even watch the games?

Marner was terrible. As others have said - the puck dies on his stick. It's like he was playing afraid. His puck over the boards penalties shows he panics in stressful situations.

Matthews was hardly more successful, but you could see he was pushing the play more. I did not see the panic in Matthews play that Marner exhibited.

He was 20.

That crap ends once you are in the junior ranks

Advice is always there but he was being controlled, never thought for himself

Marner shrinks when it counts.

he was awful, and got the most ice time. he is probably a cry baby whiner so he gets what he wants

- senstroll

its going to be genuinely interesting to see how Marner responds to the media and social media pressure that will correctly and appropriately be directed at him....

all this nonsense of attacking Matthews is just that nonsense... while he did not score he wasn't or shouldn't be considered as underachieving to the degree that Marner did. Literally every play where the puck go to Marner offensively died on his stick or he just turned it over... this was a repeated/consistent theme visible most notably on the powerplay.

Keefe's inability or lack of willingness to change the powerplay in any significant way during the last two months of the regular season should have been a clear indicator that he isn't capable of managing those two.

What's the path to correcting this?

Admission on the part of Dubas that the Marner contract was a mistake - and addressing that. Attempting to get some value out of a Marner trade is their only meaningful option... standing pat with the "Core 4" is going to see an absolute repeat in 2022

This is the worst, I really hope we don't have to hear this all summer.

This team does not need an entitled team cancer brat who thinks he should pull strings on teams operations before hitting his 20's.

Another 10 million dollar player does also not free us from the problem of having too many 10 million dollar players. Another key player with zero playoff experience does not instantaneously fix the issue of having your key players not show up in the playoffs.

Also, even if Eichel was the most perfect fit in the history of hockey (which he couldn't be further from) why in the actual (frank) would either team make that trade knowing they are stuck playing what they gave up in their division should it go sideways on them.

This.

It's not normal that no one in Montreal was even worried about Marner all series long.

He looked completely crushed by the pressure. Making nervous plays and bad decisions.

It's so comically bad in here right now, BOS fans are defending us.
- gravyface

It's just weird how so many fans from teams that stink are in here trolling a team that just finished a 7-game series.

It's one thing to talk smack when your team is playing that team.

It's another thing when your team is golfing and never participated. It's ... pathetic.
